Yohir - The Balanced Scales

The Judgement is passed, the sentence absolute.

"Your judgement has proven us worthy of life and so you balance the scales with unending hardship now hear my call unto you. Promise my sailing son an uneventful voyage through the Stromwall and may it rain on our house all winter. May the sea creatures be ever far from his vessel and may bandits steal our cows in the dea
d of night. Always the scales balance, always the price is paid Yohir, to your judgment placed."
— A prayer offered to the God of Judgement

The Great Balance of All things

What compensation can there be for the creation of man behind the back of your goddess? What could balance the scales of a living heartbeat? When man was first crafted from the wet mud of Verra'Talu by Bhaal The God of Death (Ukufa lead your way) he irrevocably tipped the scales and destiny of the world. This could not go unpunished the scales had to be weighed neutral again.   When Solaine and Rena could not find a suitable punishment for Bhaals betrayal Solaine plucked three hairs from her divine head and threw them to the wind saying "Let judgment take this as payment." The wind clutched these divine hairs and they were given shape and form into Yohir the god of judgment. Yohir determined that because Bhaal had brought mankind into the world as a father then he must feel like a father the mortality he infused them with. The judgment was passed and Yohirs carried out the sentence personally. Yohir stripped the god of death of his divine protection against pain and only after Bhaal cried out in an event known now as "The Pulse" did Yohir declare the scales rebalanced.   As Yohir could not return to the wind (being created of Solaine he did not suffer a mortal life and thus could not die) he decided instead to watch over Bhaals creations as they busied themselves on Verra'Talu. When they died, he would see if they were worthy enough to be brought beyond the Shimmer to the great cosmos beyond. The worshippers of Yohir try to find favour in this final judgement but exactly how is a much-contested topic
The Repenters
"For everything we have done and will do we must pay. Yohir judged our creator and punished him thus, and so we must bear the same fate. Through life we must look to always balance our lot. Always we must be respectful, always we must weigh the scales fairly. In the end i will stand before Yohir and say look at how much I have given to this world!"
The Indulgers
"The life debt has already been paid by our creator and he suffers so we may not. The fruits of this world has ben gifted to us and so we take what we desire, indugle in what we seek and lead the lives we like. In the end I will stand before Yohir and proclaim, my life I have lived to the fullest of my potential.

The Many, Connected by the Scales

The followers of Yohir are many around the realm of Verra'Talu but without a doubt the most numerus can be found in the Grainkeep of Midfield. Here Yohites (as they are comonly called) busy themselves weighing the payments and subsidies of Estua in excange for grain and protection. The value of such is always fluctating with the times.   Yohirs scales and his perchance to balance means he has often been used as the patron diety of many organisations. From the obvious merchants guilds and law houses of the realm to the lesser known surfing assosiations along the Golden Coast. This means for worshippers of Yohir these organisations can bring them closer to their god, either by committing themselves to selfless tasks or indulging in lifes great purits as they work. This has often been a great pull from the rigiour study and isolation of the other gods of Verra'Talu.

Yohirs followers see their deity as a leader through troubled times in their life. When times are difficult they will often rally to the symbol of Yohir to look for guidence. The scales represents the constant stability the inhabitants of Verra'Talu strive to achive and how the smallest actions can counteract the heaviest toll. Yohir is often dipicted as an elder man with a crow upon his left shoulder and a sword in his hand known as Kutongwa. It is said anyone who goes back on their word will be struck down by this mighty weapon as to Yohir words and actions mean everything.
