Crellan Creed
"There is always a choice. You can join or refuse us, both is acceptable. For our ability to think freely is always present. Nothing can take that away from you. Not the people around you, not the ancient ones, or even the gods and deities of the other realms. There is always a choice, you always have a choice."The Crellan Creed is a long standing cult that originally believed in the idea of free will and that everyone and everything has the chance to choose their own destiny. They deny ideas of prophecies, instead giving members of the cult the illusion of free will and that every decision they make is on their own terms. The reality of this group is, the Crellan Creed are an oppressive religious force that strive to gain more power in any form that it takes. From physical magical power to more political and militaristic forms of power.
Origins:
The origins of this cult come from the disciples of Crellan, an ancient Acuran corrupted by dark magic after trying to disprove a prophecy about his own demise. A prophecy which claimed to see him banished from his home land, never to see the light of day again. Thus, he made an effort to gain enough magical strength to defy his own future but in doing so sealed his fate. The Acuran gained knowledge to control the stars themselves, altering gravity on a whim and ingiting flames so bright it could rival the daystar. Through the fear of his prophecy, Crellan brought the stars crashing to ground. Metoer showers rained over Cytal in an attempt to destroy anyone who dared banish him from this realm, creating the Craters of Crellan in the process. His actions of violence caught the attention of the Elders of the Universe, beings who created the universe iteself. They came to the magic realm and were horrified at the destruction he had caused. So they punished him for all eternity, by forcing his mortal body to perpetually spin on the edge of a black hole. Banished from his home, never to see the light of day again. The Present:
The years after saw other Sorcerers and Necromancers go against what was expected of them, creating the first generation of Crellan Creed. Praying to Crellan as a god, seeing him as the first to defy his destiny. This evolved into what the group is today, a twisted power hungry religion that believe they do what they do in the name of free will.
Now controlled by a man named The Strategist, a logical and tactical thinker that operates the Creed more akin to a business than a freedom thinking group. But in the past decade he has been in power, the influence of the Creed across the craters has increased tenfold with outsiders concerned of the Creed's threat to nearby cities such as Lha-Ria and Uwoll. The main base of operations is in the town of Greystream North East of the Craters, a place very few dare to travel nearby out of fear.
Although they rule a large portion of the Craters of Crellan, they have a number of enemies in the local area which they often see conflict with. The Shards Warriors being a constant force they avoid conflict with as they are ill equipped to combat with the glass wielding Alum. Another rivallry is seen in the Strafol Seekers, a group of miners that hunt down Strafol Ore, a material that is valuable to both the Creed and the Seekers. Finally there is a single Minauran who is rumoured to have entered the town of Greystream to take down the Creed from the inside. Locals call him the Creed Killer, but no one has seen or heard from him for months.
Hierarchy:
This cult of resistant idealogy has spread its throughout the Craters of Crellan, and is now mostly formed of necromancers. The orgnaization works with a simple chain of command.- The Priest - The Leader of the Creed whose word is final and is the most powerful member, often elected by challenging the current leader to a duel
- The Disciples - 9 highly powerful members to represent the 9 major craters created by Crellan
- The Followers - Everyone else who chooses to join the cult
