The Pit Monster
Upon entering The Leaky Barge, you notice a variety of characters from all walks of life drinking and conversing among themselves. To the left is a table of old men bearing the coat of arms for the kingdom of Arison, heartedly laughing at jokes that don't sound that humourous. On the right, tucked in the corner is a pair of water Alum and a Gillan playing some kind of stabbing hand game which seems rather intense. But by far the person who takes your interest the most is a beautiful woman sat at the bar.
With flowing red hair standing out from her dark complexion, she sits with the company of foolish men fascinated by her beauty. With the coin skirt and various gold jewellery, she must be someone worthy of your time. As you approach her, you begin to hear men calling out to Calarsia, begging for her to tell them more.
Settle down boys. Johnny, that means you too. Haha! I just don't know what more I can say about it. I was at the side of Tal-Oe for years. He might have been ruthless back in the day, but he certainly knew how to treat a lady. I taught him that of course. Haha. And then, one day. The man just turned his back on me. Threw down the pit and left me for dead. Actually no, he didn't do that. He got his bloody raiders boys to do his dirty work.
What's that? The monster at the bottom? Well, I couldn't possibly tell you that, it would ruin the surprise. Although I will say, it's probably not what you're thinking it is...
No, I think those old stories of the bones of a giant beast has been blown out of proportion. Sure, the thing down there is big. Huge, in fact. And there is certainly the remains buried in dust and dirt down there. But it isn't bones. It was more, more like shell. The thickest shell you've ever seen. All broken and cracked, in a pile of shards. Some Clampren claws here and there. The limbs of a Corrabac hanging about.
The thing that you really need to know about it boys, is not what the debris looks like. Its the thing that crawled out from all those bits of that husk. That's what the monster is. And its angry. Oh, it had a temper I couldn't quite describe. Who can blame it, being thrown into a hole and trapped for centuries. I know I would be cranky if anyone had the guts to do that to me. Just look at what I did to those silly sky pirates once I climbed out...
