The History of Magic
Magic was introduced to
Vitallia via the power of Gods and The Sentinel. By the time the Races were created, magic was already abundant in the world. The firstborn creatures, regardless of species, were more attuned to magic than ever. The blood of the Sentinel flowed thick in their veins and magic was as natural to them as breathing. However, without guidance, knowledge was lost, and the people of Vitallia took to sword and spear to fight their wars, save for the Shanah and some exceptions.
Humans were the first to research magic and study its mysteries. And through obscure and persistent practices, a closed guild wrote the First Books of Magic, which contained the most powerful spells of mankind, similar to those of the Gods. It began with Necromancy, which lead to the summoning of
Nedel, the force that shaped The Great War and changed the balance of the world. The students of magic sought ways to bring the dead back to life, and so, they aimed to negate the distance and the barriers between the material world and the Underworld. Through magic, they learned to create gates by removing these barriers and bending the dimensions.
However, the prospects of Necromancy did not appeal to all wizards, and the closed group that had assembled was now disbanded, in the face of fear. Four wizards though remained, and kept practicing, ultimately summoning Nedel into the world.
With Nedel’s arrival, the Books of First Magic passed to
Misandria Thiaspis, one of the four wizards, who later gave birth to Nedel’s children. Misandria’s life ended with the birth of The Children of Chaos, but before she died, she passed the books to Meriel Roserise, a witch that had earned a reputation after the war.
Meriel Roserise possessed powerful magic of her own. She used her power to fight off the monsters that emerged from
The Crater. Her power and beauty attracted followers, and they soon became students of magic under her guidance. When Meriel acquired the First Books of Magic, her power peaked and she formed the kingdom of Rose and declared herself Queen.
Rose, was the first kingdom to introduce magic to the world through schools. Meriel’s goal was to educate mankind and arm them with magical abilities. Possessing the Books of First Magic, she was able to build academies and grant access to knowledge regarding the ways of magic. Before Meriel, magic was only limited to gifted individuals, who sought knowledge in the shadows of the gods. Meriel was the reason that magic spread to all other kingdoms and became a common force in the world.
