The village
Athar recently had their trade caravan raided and their clan leader
Geldor Brimcythe kidnapped. They have become suspicious of anyone they don't know that comes to the village, assuming they are spies from the kidnappers.
Structure
As the adventurers approach the town of small, but seemingly well maintained, buildings you can see many people going about. As they get closer someone sees them walking towards the village and they hear a shout as the villager runs off and moments later a dozen or so people start coming towards the adventurers. Led by a rugged looking dwarf with dark tan skin
Witmund Brimcythe comes up to the adventurers with the rest of the mob spreading out in front of them.
Witmund accuses the adventurers of being members of the raiders that stole thier goods and kidnapped thier leader. The group is easily persuaded after talking with them as the group doesn't resemble the raiders. They then explain that the Boartusk Clan regularly attacks caravans of villagers that travel to nearby cities for trade but this time they kidnapped their leader Geldor Brimcythe. They ask if the adventurers would be willing to find their leader and rescue him, they don't have much in the way of coin to offer but are willing to provide shelter and food. If asked they will also escort the adventurers to Lativ or Gondral once their leader is found and brought home.
The villagers will inform the adventurers that the caravan was robbed on the main road a couple days to the west before they could cross the Nathak River. If they attempt to find other leads by talking to the locals, DC 15 Investigation, a hunter will say he's seen unknown footprints crossing a southern trail.
The adventurers investigations will eventually lead them to the
Cafeld Ruins to the southeast of
Athar. If the adventurers go in the wrong direction they will run into a small group of the
Boartusk Clan that they can try to get information out of in one way or another.
Arriving at the
Cafeld Ruins the adventurers will find several
Boartusk Clan. If it's night time then all but one will be sleeping, the one not sleeping sits at a table in a separate building. If they arrive during the day then most are at the table while 1 or 2 are wandering about the ruins.
Geldor Brimcythe is chained in another building.
Freeing
Geldor Brimcythe he requests the adventurers to help bring back some of the goods that are kept in the ruins to his village. If they freed him sneakily then he can easily be convinced to leave the goods, if the bandits have been killed it is more difficult to convince him to leave the goods behind.
Returning to the village with their leader the townsfolk will be very grateful to the adventurers. They will happily guide the adventurers to either of the two towns nearby.
