SM13 - Double, Double Toil and Trouble
General Summary
The party are witness to a mass killing committed in the name of The Wanderer and consult the Oracle of Tsuvral.
Victory at Last
After a break in events at midday, Sandy competed in and won the magical climbing competition by a wide margin. He was helped by the rest of the party, who noticed that the Earth Genasi who got out to an early lead was likely cheating. They hypothesized that she was using illusion magic, but were unable to prove it once she stopped doing it.Javelin of Deadly Returning
Next, Tikvah competed in the magical javelin competition. He was in the rear pack of those who qualified, as most competitors used high strength bonuses and/or wind magic to propel their javelins farther. During Acquilano's last throw, their javelin stopped midair, then shot back at them at great speed. The quick reactions of Sandy, who managed to catch the projectile in his Bag of Holding. Tikvah fled with Acquilano to his tent, but when the bag was opened again, the javelin resumed its course to the Genasi. The party's quick thinking saved him and the javelin competition hesitantly resumed.The Undertaker
Early that evening, the final event began. Nyssa and Tikvah were put up against Stoney, Wilbur's bodyguard, and a racist Satyr. Both party members ended up in the loser's bracket, where Nyssa faced off against another tattooed Goliath with a shadowy aesthetic. Smokestalker proved to be more than he first appeared, taunting Nyssa about The Anchored and other information only The Wanderer or one of his servants would know. After the possession of Smokestalker apparently ended, Az Boldfinger, who had been acting suspiciously for the last couple of minutes, climbed to the top of the stands. From there, he cast a spell that killed about a third of the spectators at the event, including Meloch's mother Fortha and the former head of the Hierophic temple in Celonar who the party once rescued. He then raised their souls as shadows and disappeared with them into the Shadowfell.The Oracle
Though the games officially ended after this travesty, The Oracle's prophecies were still heard due to their religious significance. While the rest of the party waited outside, Sandy and Tikvah entered the smoke-filled tent, as did Alivul. Tikvah asked The Oracle how to awaken his dormant person. She responded that he needed to remove the contagion from the land to remove it from himself. Sandy asked how to find the person who killed the spectators at the wrestling event. She replied that he had escaped this realm, but that his image could be found in a place familiar to Sandy. In a seeming break from her usual vagueness, she told him to go home.Remove these ads.
