Elder
An Elder in the world of Vampire: The Masquerade is a powerful and ancient vampire who has survived for centuries, if not millennia. They are among the most experienced and knowledgeable Kindred, having lived through many conflicts and political upheavals.
Any kindred that's over 300 years old is generally considered an Elder, with those in Europe and the Old World being much older. In the Americas the definition is less strict.
Elders are ranked above Ancilla but below Lord.
Elders are often among the most powerful members of their respective domains, and they hold significant influence over the younger Kindred in their cities. They are typically members of the Camarilla or are powerful Barons and are expected to uphold the Masquerade and maintain the stability of their domains.
Elders may hold positions of power within the Camarilla, such as Primogen, Harpy, or even Prince. They are often wealthy and have extensive networks of influence and resources. They are expected to be wise and cautious, and their actions are often guided by long-term strategic planning.
Elders are not invincible, however. They can still be destroyed by other Kindred, especially if they make a misstep or underestimate their enemies. Many Elders have also become jaded and cynical over the centuries, leading them to withdraw from Kindred society and pursue their own interests. Many Elders also hold a certain level of contempt for Neonates and Fledglings, looking down upon them as nothing more than pawns to be used and scarified at will.
Overall, Elders are powerful and respected figures in the world of Vampire: The Masquerade, but their long lives have also made them complex and often unpredictable.
