Morning Shenanigans
- Alton went on a morning trip to the Tiny Hal-bird, spending his last gold to hire the dark elf with the broom in the corner to investigate Yiru.
- Rust watched Panda make a mess of Alton's apartment as Panda tried to stop Alton's spider from crawling back to his old apartment.
- Alton was knocked to the ground by Panda upon his return
- Yiru watched
- The spider was trapped in a jar and Alton requested Rust dispel magic on it, claiming it was not a spider.
- Rust did not detect any magic on the spider and seemed doubtful but attempted the spell regardless. It did not seem to do anything at first. Rust did, however, notice that the spider had an aura of magic afterwards. He attempted to dispell it again and the jar exploded, and a startled dark elf was left on the table.
- Ryltar returned with breakfast he had purchased in the market outside.
- The former spider was frustratingly reluctant to share information about himself. Pretty ungrateful, all things considered. He did claim that an "extremely powerful and skilled wizard" had polymorphed him. Alton immediately assumed that he had polymorphed himself and lost track of time. This was not officially confirmed. In any case, the dark elf's name was revealed, eventually, after some lies, to be Talerd. He originally claimed to be named Omaverian Rylruri or something of the sort. After being promised a croissant, he gave his full name: Talerd Kelrashvruir. Alton vaguely recalled having tossed a passport for a 'Talerd' in the trash when he had first moved into his old apartment.
- Talerd remained grateful but very unhelpful.
- When asked why he had not sought help, Talerd informed Alton that Alton was weird and most people did not pay attention to spiders on the wall - that was why he had transfor... anyways. He just figured out how he could sort of write recently.
- The party decided that they did not have time for this hooligan and Alton expressed his desire to seek out a local group for training.
- Talerd remained behind at Alton's apartment, alone except for the croissants.
Kalan's Ebonclouds
- Alton went to speak with Brird, the "lifeguard" to find where he could get some ranger training
- A number of children had created a rough stone Rust, and called him BIG SPLASH. They requested another cannonball.
- The building the Ebonclouds used as a base was about a two hour walk outside the city, but still connected to well maintained roads. I stood out with a massive fountain in the front, featuring the statue of a a male dark elf, armed and armoured, hands outstretched, with the fountain water pouring out of them. The building was tall and circular, with the very middle part built into a massive column connecting the cavern ceiling and floor. There were rooms on either side of the main hallway from the front door which could be glimpsed through small windows. On the left were a group being trained in melee combat. On the right were what appeared to be a group of commoners inspecting a series of mushrooms. There was a scream from the right as the party's vision was cut off by one of the many intricately carved pillars.
- In the main area, there were small shrines built into the back wall. Alton skipped over to a statue of Lyra, looking a bit more armed than he was used to. A passing Eboncloud laughed that you don't conquer all the underground of Kir without knowing your way around a fight. Alton borrowed a gold piece from Ryltar to make an offering.
- Rust observed Alton and offered his own gold piece to the statue. When it disappeared, he inspected the area thoroughly. It seemed magical as there was enchanted script but no mechanism that could have stolen the coin.
- In the center of the room, was a desk. At the desk was a receptionist. She informed the party that they offered workshops to the public but Alton was adamant that he wanted to join them. Yiru, Rust, and Ryltar had no interest in joining but agreed to assist Alton.
- Alton would need to prove himself before meeting the leader of the Ebonclouds, Naddax.
- The receptionist disappeared for a few minutes before returning and beckoning the party through a door to the massive center column.
Aside
- Alton remembered at some point that Siglern the spy's last name had been Kelrashvruir
Tests and Trials
- First, was an endurance race to the top of the column. The party raced up, focusing on competition. The receptionist was impressed by Yiru. Rust and Ryltar used magic to help. Alton had some trouble.
- In the next room, the receptionist asked for the most dangerous mushroom. Alton and Rust identified some highly poisonous mushrooms but Alton correctly identified a type that shrieked loudly upon approach, likely giving away someone's position.
- In the next room, the receptionist vanished and asked for the party's help to find her. She promised to give her name if they could find her. Alton immediately looked up.
- Rust seemed distracted by something.
- Yiru sat back to observe Alton's performance. Ryltar stood by in case he needed help. The receptionist challenged Alton to a fight.
- Alton was heavily battered but eventually, the receptionist was impressed enough to declared that he had passed.
- Rust wandered back the way he had come, looking for better music?
- The receptionist jumped into what appeared to be a deep pit.
- Yiru jumped in and landed gracefully in the water below.
- Alton floated down.
- Ryltar held on to Alton's rope of climbing.
Trouble on the Roads
- The receptionist, Janiara, brought Alton, Yiru, and Ryltar to another Eboncloud named Fereltyn.
- Fereltyn was excited to see someone had made it past the receptionist.
- Janiara went back to manning the desk.
- Fereltyn apologized, as there had been an incident on the road and he had to attend to it.
- Alton, Yiru, and Ryltar offered to assist. He accepted with a grin.
- Rust was missing. After hearing from Ryltar, who used his magic to ask Rust where he was, that Rust was looking for music, Alton immediately assumed he would be near a waterfall.
- Rust had wandered in the same direction Fereltyn was headed. He was in fact near a waterfall when he began singing one of Farren's songs.
- Fereltyn met up with three more Ebonclouds - his brother Ereltyn, a cleric named Sririni who was supposed to head back to Fallenhaunt later that day, and a fourth whose name they did not catch.
- Ereltyn asked Rust to kindly quiet down.
- Some underground creatures had tunneled into the main roads. The creature in particular had been defeated by the Ebonclouds but had opened up the possibility that there could be others or worse.
