Dome 25/5/2458

General Summary

The Demon Hole

  • Zeves remained by the hole, hiding, as he did not think he would be much use beyond as a guide.
  • The "hole", a tunnel really, showed evidence of having been worked on, or even mined. There seemed to be small, dull lianyte shards in some places.
  • The party proceeded with the utmost stealth.
  • A few giant sized, and human sized skeletons were seen summersaulting down the tunnel, towards the entrance.
  • Several frog like demons were also seen leaving the city through the tunnel.
  • About an hour from the city, a few of the group, including Beau the bard who is definitely really an elf, fell asleep suddenly for a few minutes. They experienced strange dreams.

Domes

  • The storm giants are perfectly comfortable under water, but in some areas, particularly the north west side of the city, they have magical transparent domes filled with air.
  • The water was brightened in some places by magical and natural glows.
  • The party first came through into what seemed to be a "small" (for a giant) park dome, with a massive tree, of the same low light requiring kind that they had seen in Gaulgrastar. The air was relatively fresh. The dome was empty though. There was no one around.
  • Captain Farren tried to contact Filfinil, but recieved no reply. Concerned that he had given away their position, the party left the dome.

Simmra the Mage

  • The air filled domes allowed the party to communicate, so they sought another to continue their planning.
  • They entered what seemed to be a greenhouse of sort. Here, they finally spotted two giants, one of whom was sleeping, one of whom was humming and watering the plants.
  • After speaking with the giant who was awake for a while, it became clear that she was not aware that Ogmothynstar had even attacked their kindred in Gaulgrastar.
  • Beau acquired some mint.
  • After pressuring her somewhat, the party discovered that the giant was in fact, a ghost, and for brief periods was aware what was going on.
  • The ghost giant had been a mage, and the sleeping giant was her son. Her name was Simmra.
  • Farren persuaded Simmra for some help, and she gifted him a scroll of modified banishement that should work on the crystals the cult was using to control and manipulate the barrier.
  • Simmra also mentioned that she was not impressed with another mage in town, Ormund, who was known for creating "bone golems"
  • The party also learned that the masked man was likely being held in one of the other domes, which was surrounded by some kind of glowing plant.

Recon

  • While the rest of the party spoke with Simmra, Alton spied on one of the giant crystals, reporting it's guards which consisted of fish people, a couple giants, and sharks.
  • Besides these guards and fish and sharks, the city was quiet.
  • In case of emergency, Alton tied his hair back and stuck a lockpick in it as a hairpin.

Split the Party

  • The party regrouped, and finalized their plans.
  • The giants were sent to the northern crystal.
  • The party went first to the Coral Palace, to take out the center crystal, and dirsupt the overall control of the barrier.
  • The stated plan was for the giants to strike first in the north, drawing the guards. Once they had destroyed the northern crystal, they would move to the eastern crystal and proceed clockwise. Meanwhile, the party would sneak into the Coral Palace, take out the center crystal, and then head West. Before going after the crystal, they would try to save the emprisoned masked man.
  • The party, using invisibility, disguise, and pure stealth, managed to sneak into the main tower of the palace, following a group of fish folk guards.
  • The infiltration went well, aside from one suspicious glance when Beau and Harold physically pushed the door open (after the lock was picked).
  • A faint purple glow was visible through a pair of clear doors leading to the center room of the tower, but Farren was distracted spotting an unexpected familiar face.

Big Tim?

  • The party entered some kind of break room. Inside were two fish folk guards, and what appeared to be Big Tim, once the lookout of the Holy Vessel.
  • Beau and Harold went to work distracting the two guards while Farren tried to speak with his friend. Alton contemplated the possible need to take out the guards.
  • There was something almost like a cut down the middle of Big Tim's face visible for only  moment.

Rewards Granted

  • Simmra's Scroll of Banishment
