General Summary
Big Tim
- Farren tried to speak with Big Tim, but he ran into issues with communicating underwater.
- Big Time could speak aquan, but Farren could not.
- While Farren was trying direct communication, Harold and Beau were pretending he wasn't there, not wanting to alert the guards.
- Big Tim claimed he had been caught in a whirlpool or some such. He said he thought everyone but Farren had died.
- Big Tim questioned whether Farren was there to help him, or if Farren needed his help. He offered to come with Farren but also seemed suspicious.
- Farren tried to get Big Tim outside the room.
Sandy
- Outside the room, still without figuring out what was going on with big Tim, a shalarin somewhat suspiciously told disguised Beau, disguised Harold, and Big Tim, that everyone was needed in the northern tower of the palace, right now.
- Big Tim, confused by the whole encounter started heading that way.
- Not wanting to give themselves away, Beau and Alton slowly did the same.
- Captain Farren lingered back, invisible.
- From his hiding spot, Alton watched this shalarin sneak through the clear door, dropping to the ground and hiding under a decorative railing from anyone swimming above.
- Alton snuck up behind the stranger and threatened him with a sharp crossbow bolt.
- Vaena, as a fish, headbutted Beau back to Alton and the shalarin, to translate (though it was later revealed that Vaena did understand some aquan at least).
- After a confusing encounter, made excruciatingly difficult due to language barriers and garbled speech, it was revealed that this shalarin, whose name was "Sandy", was trying to destroy the crystal too. At some point in this confusion, Farren broke his invisibility with an angry stomp so powerful it counted as an attack.
- Sandy revealed that Kraken had left a day ago to attack Ogmothynstar again. Farren warned the giants of this. Alton alerted Rillae.
Big Tim is Dead
- With Farren revealed, and Big Tim still present, the conversation shifted again.
- Sandy revealed that Big Tim had been changed by some dark ritual.
- Farren confronted Big Tim, who spoke of Captain Flagon's painful death. He mentioned how Farren must have been her favourite, as she helped him escape. He mentioned that it was Farren who Marooned Blythe.
- Big Tim's form shifted into a horrific tentacled monstrosity.
- A short fight ensued, during which the ghost of Dainard reached out to fight Farren with Big Tim.
- Big Tim was defeated, though he did sound a silent (thanks to Beau) psychic cry.
- Harold proposed using Gyrdyr's coin to incinerate Big Tim's body, which had reverted to normal but Farren prayed to Luin, and silver blue magic dripped from his sword and engulfed Big Tim before the body seemed to fall into it's shadow and vanish.
Banish the Crystal
- With Big Tim defeated, and the cloack ticking before some shark smelled blood in the water, the party got to work.
- Taking advantage of the low numbers in the center tower (caused by both their giant allies having attacked the northern crystal and Sandy having tricked many of the guards out of the area), the party made straight for the crystal, swimming down two foors and into a comparatively small basement room through an opening in the floor. More invisibility was employed, and Alton drank his giant potion. On their way, Beau, Harold, and Sandy tricked a few more guards to leave the area.
- The magic cricle around the crystal was draining, and poison, to the living who crossed it. Nonetheless, with Beau and Harold's help, captain Farren got close enough to banish the crystal.
- The party fought off two great wight hydrasharks while backing away.
- The sharks were being vaguely commanded by a group of shalarin guards that were also fleeing once the crystal vanished.
- There was also a storm giant who was too far to interact, and not sure what had happened.
- During the fight, Harold noticed that there were two identical Vaena fish. Alton fired powerful crossbow bolts but was thwarted by the sharks' resistance to physical damage. Beau seriously weakened the sharks with a slow spell, shutting down some of their most dangerous abilities. Both Harold and Ryltar were temporarily polymorphed by one of the shark heads, into small purple lianyte. Harold reverted to his normal self thanks to his shapechanging nature. Ryltar was reverted by Farren. One of the sharks was destroyed - finished off by a wild magic infused Harold. The other was banished by Krumbleton.
- Their goal accomplished, the party headed up and out, fleeing the unstable magic circle.
Rewards Granted
- uhh... Harold can now turn into a small shard of purple lianyte
