General Summary
Heroics
- Rust expressed concern leaving the one Eboncloud to guard the passage alone.
- The Eboncloud assured Rust that he was not alone
- Yiru noticed an orange cat with bright green eyes hiding beneath a mushroom.
- The cat answered 'yes" when asked if he was taking care of the "incompetant" guard. The guard sneered.
- Rust still asked Ryltar to stay behind, just in case.
- Yiru, Rust, and Alton hurried along back down the path. They found the three Ebonclouds surrounded by similar, but weakened shadow beings. They were defending 5 civilians, including a child who whispered "big splash" when noticing Rust.
- The party managed to help Fereltyn, Ereltyn, and the two civilians they had been guarding get to a fountain aglow with magical holy light. The creatures were repelled by the fountain.
- Sririni helped, but seemed to tired to move.
- Alton got his bird to heal a downed Ereltyn... though his bird seemed to panic slightly and smack Ereltyn until he woke up.
- Rust managed to warp an injured Ereltyn to him, before also warping Fereltyn.
- Yiru distracted a trio of the shadows.
- Alton and Yiru managed to defeat a few before the remaining shadows gave up, very weakened, and headed back the way they had come.
- The shadows seemed to struggle moving through the floor and were blocked by some magic from leaving through the east gate.
Continued Heroics
- Sririni managed to heal the group before settling down for a nap at the fountain.
- Alton and Yiru directed Fereltyn and Ereltyn to take the civilians down the east gate.
- Alton, Yiru, and Rust dashed after the already weakened gloomy shadowy masses, but hesitated when Alton's bird pointed out that they had come through the passage from earlier.
- The party decided Ryltar and the remaining Eboncloud would be able to manage and went to deal with the source of the issue.
Deathly Silence
- Heading further south than before, Yiru, Alton, and Rust came across an entirely dead colony of mushroom people, and a couple dead phase spiders.
- The cavern was filled with fresh rubble, indicating many creatures had made a mess tunnelling through.
- A mushroom alarm went off, spoiling any stealth.
- In the corner of the cavern, they found a metal ring with a broken glasslike lid, sparking with uncontained magic.
- Darkness, floating up and down like jellyfish, like that seen in the bottom of the Land Below was leaking from it. Somehow, this darkness felt... fuller.
Love, Death, Warforged
- Rust and Panda got to work trying to repair the circular magical device.
- The dead mushrooms animated and swarmed Rust, Yiru, Panda, Alton, and Vaena.
- The mushrooms were harder to hit than normal, then they started to hit harder, then they started to shift into the ethereal plane and develop shaowy bug parts. A massive mushroom then showed up, sprouting a thousand eyes and causing confusion.
- Eventually the party managed to defeat all the mushrooms, but panda was broken in the process.
- Rust absorbed the shadows in his anger and doubled in size. The fight ended, he doubled in size again, and went about stomping on the shadowy corpses. Hearing not only the glass crack, but feeling the ground shake and crack, Alton and Yiru tried to calm Rust. Rust refused to be calm. Alton grabbed Yiru and pulled her away. A fissure opened beneath Rust and he plummeted out of sight.
- Alton tried to toss his rope of climbing but it snapped. He tossed what was left of it into the hole.
- Vanea dove in after Rust but reported that the hole went first into some kind of abandoned structure below where the ground was equally precarious and eventually to the raging underground river to the ocean. She could not find him, and tried to explain the elemental currents below.
- Alton was devastated.
- Alton and Yiru returned to find that Ryltar and the Eboncloud guard had defeated the foes they had let by.
- Alton hugged Ryltar and collapsed into tears.
- Yiru delivered a report to the Eboncloud and offered to report back to Eboncloud HQ.
