The Caravan Departs 25/4/2458 - 26/4/2458

General Summary

Tholki Departs

  • The party awoke to find that Tholki had vanished. According to the waitress, he had wandered into an unexpected portal, claiming he had to come to an agreement with the Concrete Arsonist Block Against Liberation ???

Breakfast

  • Eliza awoke from her lengthy rest as a squirrel and found that she needed a shower.
  • As Beerum and the others once more partook in bacon and eggs, Eliza attempted to make use of her cooking abilities to prepare a tasty vegetarian dish. She managed to convince the waitress not to kick her out of the inn for cooking on a small fire on top of the table. She also managed to make some gourmet quality good berry jam.
  • The waitress informed the party that Kakea had called a meeting for all parties involved in her caraven escort.
  • Eliza claimed that she would only eat meat if she could be certain that it was ethically sourced and all parts of the animal had been used for something and respected.
  • Beerum appeared to fangirl briefly at the mention of the sky pirates, even going so far as to defend their honour and claim that they were not pirates.
  • Eliza told the wolf that he was weak and just taking food from them etc.

Shopping and Working

  • Beerum visited the local smith and traded his crossbow for new shield.
  • "Penelope" purchased one normal pony at the stables. Besides the two ponies, there were no other mounts available for sale.
  •  Braa attempted to earn some coin but found the atmosphere tense, and did not manage to attract a crowd.
  • Later in the day, "Penelope" did manage to earn a few coins performing card tricks. There were a number of wealthier merchant types int town. She also gave her deck of cards to the same boy she had conned a platinum coin from previously. She attempted to teach him how to do the tricks.
  • Eliza visited the smith and commissioned some armour. She was extremely forward with the smith. Her armour was ready and picked up the next morning. Beerum helped her pay for it.
"Druids don't really wear metal." - Beerum "Why? It's so shiny! ...It does come from nature; it's just been touched by man." - Eliza the druid

Hunter's Guild?

  • Beerum and Eliza met a local ranger in the lodge just on the outskirts of the small town.
  • There was an old dog there.
  • The ranger lady tried to assure them that all the meat the hunters brought in was ethically sourced, but it was clear there was no real organization. Only a shared area for meeting, resting, working etc.
  • Beerun tried to convince her to organize into an official guild, offering his friend Filgar's (a fellow member of Luin's shadow) assistance with the paperwork.
  • The wolf returned to Eliza with a dead squirrel he had caught.
"These fkers are lazy, they were comlpaining about paperwork!" -Eliza "Do you know how to do paperworker?" -Beerum "..."

Kakea's Plan

  • The caravan was gathering on the edge of town. There were several large tents, carts, wagons, and a building likely housing much of the merchandise.
  • There were thirty or so travelling merchants, and two other adventurers who had signed on as guards: a dwarf named Toremnin and a cloaked young man named Steve. Steve came off as possibly a dishonest sort but his named seemed real. Toremnin had plenty of stories of his adventures, and claimed that Steve was a coward he had promised to take care of and needed to learn to face his fears.
  • Braa spoke with Toremnin at length, hearing many tales of the dwarf getting lost in the desert in an undergound room with a dry fountain, and also of a cursed forest to the north, where the golden haired witch had cursed the great tree of the archdruids.
  • Kakea revealed that she suspected the "ghosts" were more likely bandits, and decided to leave early, in the hopes that the change in schedule would throw them off.
  • Kakea announced that they would leave first thing the next morning. There was discussion of first and second breakfast.
  • The party all signed employment contracts without reading them. Eliza tried to read it but could not. She signed all paperwork with a handprint.
  • Beerum introduced himself to the others.
  • "Penelope" attempted to frighten Steve and intimidate him out of the job so that she would have a greater share of the coin.
  • "Penelope" noticed a couple of the merchants that she had seen in Celeb in the past.

Deep Racoon

  • Braa heard a slightly drunk man complain he had some problems with inventory. Some helmet was missing from his cargo. He was delivering for a third party.

Departure

  • The party left with the caraven in the morning
  • Along the road, a heavy rose scented fog began to fall upon the caravan. The drivers and horses began to fall unconcious.
  • Two trees and a number of bushes came to life and started to damage the carts and wagons.
  • The party engaged, staying clear of the fog, except for Eliza who was not affected.
  • A dwarven woman on an elk appeared and managed to turn Steve, Toremnin, and "Penelope" into animals.
  • Eliza was gravely injured and briefly went down.
  • The druid on the elk defended her mount with her life when Braa aimed for it.
  • The party managed to take out the trees and the druid, but the later was carried fast and far into the forest by her elk. She dropped her staff.
  • "Penelope", in the form of an owl, took off after her.
  • Braa, who's arm was still slowly petrifying, picked up the staff. Vines and thorns reached from it to his arm.
