Saints of Drákagon

Becoming a Saint of Drákagon is the highest honor a citizen of Igíos can achieve. It is earned by being chosen to become an Imperial Dragon Hunter and permitted to hunt a dragon that has come to be ancient of age. The Imperial Dragon Hunter or the team of Hunters would then arrive to the lair of the ancient dragon, try and get as much information about the primordial dragon as they can, and then try and slay the dragon and claim it's power with a ritual Igíos is said to have created that simulates the power transfer of the death of a Primordials. Only the one who deals the killing blow is able to absorb the power of the dragon however, this individual is then expected to return with their team to Drákagon and share what they've learned directly with the emperor or empress. The Imperial Dragon Hunter who dealt the killing blow and absorbed the power of the dragon is then expected to subject themselves to the same ritual and allow the emperor/empress to absorb the power they've gained. To refuse would be seen as the highest treason, the Hunter would be arrested and put to death through the ritual anyway, but to accept would cement the Hunter's legacy as a Saint of Drákagon. They would claim the name of the ancient dragon they've slain, a massive statue of them would be built outside the Imperial Palace in the Drákagon and the people of Igíos would revere the saint and slain dragon alike as heroes of Igíos. So far there have only ever been a few Saints of Drákagon but until the Draconic Pilgrimage is complete, then the hunt continues.
