Little Grandma

Reclusive Witch-Queen of the Thaumatocracy of Oztroja

"Little Grandma" is both the goodnatured nickname and divine title of the Matriarch of the Thaumatocracy of Oztroja. She is a witch of unknown age and immense power, thought to either be an avatar of one of the Material Gods (perhaps Morrigan) or herself a rising ascendant demigod.

The Witch Queen's familiar is known to be a black cat named Silent Shilka. Rumours also swirl around this creature, often identifying it as a demon or elder spirit in disguise.

Little Grandma's alignment is unknown but it likely Lawful Neutral or Lawful Evil.

Identity

There are simply too many competing and often contradictory narratives around Little Grandma to create an assured biography. Some believe her to be a mysterious but benevolent mother figure, others a creature of unspeakable evil. Some believe her to be a myth altogether — a ficticious figurehead of some ruling cabal — while others believe her to be a god wearing flesh, ruling a region of Waking Materia out of whimsy or celestial politics.

What is generally agreed upon is her rule began as a folk worship/submission by the peoples immediately surrounding her wooded fenland, and this worship has since grown over the decades to encompass the political entity now known as modern Oztroja. It’s unknown whether Little Grandma engineered or even welcomed this, but she seems to accept it.

The political elements of Oztroja do not seem to show any temptation to question her authority, though she rarely intervenes in the realms politics, which are ruled more or less similarly to many duchies in The Midlands, minus the cultural and religious differences.

The extent of Little Grandma's divine power is little understood. If she has Domain to offer, they likely revolve around community, nature, black magic and knowledge.

Favoured Weapon

Little Grandma's favoured weapon is the quarterstaff. Her Relic staff is named Doorknocker.
