Beer, Blackmail, and Brawl

Chula , Kvothe , and Neemin Whispermouse decided to enjoy an evening out together while they waited to meet up with the rest of their adventuring party (who were still enroute to the City of Waterdeep )

On this evening at The Yawning Portal , there were several entertainers performing and the group were anticipating enjoying the show.

As often happens when Kvoth joins the group at a tavern, the spirits flowed and the memory failed. At some point a small herd of mules were procured and then propositioned. The ultimate outcomes were hazy....

The tavern was packed and seating limited. An intoxicated and colorful character joined the party at their table. As the drink flowed he become more and more talkative; eventually divulging to the group that he had in his possession something of extreme value. The party was ale to get out of the stranger that he had a blackmail letter to one of the Masked Lords of Waterdeep, claiming to know that this particular Masked Lord was Xanathar himself. Also in his possession was the magical mask of the Masked Lords, insinuating that it was Xanathar's mask.

Shortly after this conversation, two individuals made their presence known, demanding the blackmail letter and mask under threat of death. Bellwish Grady - Thug and Merry Dwindlejoy - Thug). After some conversation, combat erupted and eventually Bellwish was killed. However, Merry was able to escape with his friends body. The stranger was also killed in the combat and the party found the following on his body:
