Barony of Sturmdunkel

This region is ruled by Baron Hiedemann Blacktower of House Sturndunkel the last of his illustrious bloodline who used to rule the entire of the Duchy many ceturies ago.
House Sturmdunkel also have a charter from Emperor Magnus the Pious granting them direct command over half of the Duchy of Saponatheims State Army, an honour which the Baron revels in but which the Graf von Saponatheim would happily see wrested from his grasp given the opportunity.
Much of the land in the Baronry has been stripped of its forests and freed up for pasture, although the Baron has deliberately retained a limited patch of woodland simply to encourage the usual array of beastmen, mutants and greenskins to settle within his domain so that he can use them to harden his troops and hone their fighting skills.
The River Bogen is particularly misty along its passage through Sturmdunkel particualrly in winter and the Baron also uses this feature to challenge his troops and get them used to manouvring in bewilding and difficult conditions.
The Baron divides his time between two castles and estates. To the south of the river is his ancestral home of Castle Sturmdunkel, whilst to the north is the military barracks known as Castle Hohenwand where most of the troops under his command are housed.
