Born a butler’s son, his family has proudly served the Strauss household for generations. From the time he was born, he was taught to be obedient and to faithfully serve the Strauss family. He’s polite when he needs to be, quiet when he needs to be, and loud when he needs to be. Despite his age, he can move quickly and quietly. He holds no patience for those who disrespect the family he serves or does not stay within their station.
Growing up, he was in charge of looking after Arthur Strauss who was close in age and the two became close friends. Charles had no illusions about his relationship with Arthur. He preferred men, but he never saw Arthur as anything more than a close friend. Even if he did, the nobleman did not share Charles’s sexual tastes. Also, Charles was not of noble birth and knew it would only bring scandal to the family.
Even as a child, Charles took his responsibilities seriously and often acted as the voice of reason, keeping the young rambunctious Arthus in line until the day he fully matured. Unfortunately, this meant Charles gave up many passions and potential relationships to serve the house he had sworn allegiance to even at the urging of his closest friend.
Over the years, Charles has witnessed dragons at their best and their worst which has left him with a slight dislike for the scaly creatures. He actually despises the idea of having a dragon pet, but his loyalty towards his boss is stronger and stays his prejudice.

History
Charles took to looking after Aaron like his own son since the day the boy was born. As such, the butler is more of an uncle or even a second father to Aaron. This bonding served them well as Charles became the boy's sole guardian after Aaron lost both is parents. During this time, it is said Charles single-handedly saved the boy and brought him and by extension the Strauss family back from the brink Lately, however, a rift seems to have grown between them.

Aeris has known Charles since she first hatched. His attitude towards her even then has always been cold and unflinching. He does everything in his power to mold her into the "ideal" dragon. actions are always held under a microscope and observed for any signs of weakness.
