Renunciation
Abjuration in Material Form
This staff represents the power of abjuration, a fragment of Mystra's spirit coalesced into material form. The city of Biura was founded on the spot this staff appeared to spring forth from the ground of Winderia. It appears as a smooth oaken staff with a faint sheen of force pulsing around it. Whenever the wielder casts an abjuration spell, an outline of force energy in the shape of gauntlets surrounds the wielder’s hands.
Only a 20th-level wizard devoted to the arcane tradition of abjuration may attempt to attune with this staff. This can only occur after they have gained the approval of Mystra as the next Abjurer of the Eight and wielder of Renunciation, typically by completing a grand quest on her behalf. The staff dramatically increases the wielder's magical capabilities, particularly in the use of abjuration magic. However, the wielder cannot stray too far from the staff or suffer severe consequences.
Once a creature attunes to Renunciation, the attunement cannot be broken unless the wielder dies or the staff is destroyed.
