Edenite Battery
Edenite Batteries are a specialized type of energy source derived from the exchange of Mana into electrical energy. Often making use of an Edenite gem that has been embued with electrical energy, Edenite Batteries have become a common source of power for large and high-energy demanding machinery.
Mechanics & Inner Workings
To put it simply, an Edenite Battery will have an Edenite Gem that has been enscribed with the element of electricity put inside a thick, durable glass tube, with either just the bottom or both ends of it containing the conversion mechanism. It sends a pulse of energy to the gem, causing it to discharge the electricity within it. The conversion mechanism absorbs the electricity and outputs it to the machine or device that it's connected to.
Depending on the model of the Edenite Battery, it can have multiple gems all within it, or contain a massive gem. The larger the gem, the more electricity it can output, but the more time needed for it to recharge.
History
Invented during the midst of World War II, Edenite Batteries were designed as as way to solve a common problem whereupon vehicles needed huge amounts of electricity in short amounts of time. These early Edenite Batteries, made from an Edenite gem embued with the element of lightning, would convert the mana within them into electricity, which is then absorbed into the cell holding the gem.
Between WW2 and The Withering, Edenite Batteries would steadily be adopted as an alternative and enviromentally friendly way of generating electricity. These batteries would find heavy use in areas occupied by Nymphs due to the lack of pollution caused by their usage, as well as the relative ease of recharging them.
When the Deepcore Foundation began trying to spread it's influence to both The Sands and Terra Eclipsis, Edenite Batteries were introduced in both of those realms as both an introduction into the scientific discoveries made on Earth, as well as a way for them to be able to adapt any magic in their realms to use these.
After The Withering occured, the usage of these batteries would skyrocket, as the manufacturing of them proved to be much easier and less costly than that of Alkaline and Lithium batteries. Oftentimes, to allow for older technology to use these, people have created makeshift adapters that would be inserted into the battery input of a device, which would then have an Edenite Battery plugged into it-- though the efficacy and risk factor of these adapters tended to vary.
Batteries are always good. They always give me a sense of safety when I pick them up in video games, and after the Withering I think they'd have the same effect in your world.
