Edenite

Edenite is a strange, crystaline material that is often used in magical tools and spell-casting, filled with large amounts of Mana. It exists as a safe and controlled form of Mana for individuals whom are not adjusted to it's side-effects.

Properties

Material Characteristics

When it's found in the ground, Edenite tends to take on a greenish coloration, with a vibrant glow within the crystaline structures. The shapes of a crystaline structure of Edenite are varied, oftentimes taking triangular, hexagonal shapes, often pointed upward with sharp ends. When refined, an Edenite crystal can either be shaped into that of a sphere, or into that of a gem.   The colors of an Edenite crystal is varied, often depending on the element that is inscribed within them. In the event that two distinct elements have similar colors, a symbol will be applied to the side of the gem to differentiate it. Below a chart can be found of the different types of elements there are that an Edenite gem can be outfitted with.

Physical & Chemical Properties

Edenite itself, when an element isn't affixed to it, will feel smooth, even if it was just recently mined. It will have a cool touch to it, with an electrifying sensation felt as one's hand holds it. When given an element, a Edenite gem can have a spell affixed to it, magical runes being implanted onto the surface, ready to be deployed whenever certain conditions are met.

Geology & Geography

Edenite can be found in a wide variety of places that are high in magical energy, from deep within the mountains to the bottom of the oceans. As a result of this, it was often found within Terra Eclipsis and The Sands. Although it can be found on Strakh, it's in much smaller quantites in comparison to the magical ores found in that realm.

It's existence on Earth is a story of it's own, as although it had been in the realm since the dawn of it's formation, the quantities of it that exist now formed spontaniously during The Bloom in the 1900s. Although the reasoning for this has remained rather elusive, it is a known fact that thanks to The Bloom, an estimated 5% of surface-level stone had been transmutated into Edenite, with the numbers for Edenite further underground being estimated to be in the 3-7% of conversion.

History & Usage

Everyday use

Alongside it's usage in spells and rituals, Edenite has seen special use for various magical tools, trinkets and technologies. From being used as the basis for batteries (see Edenite Battery) to magical spell-casting rods, it has a wide variety of uses. This can include, but is not limited to:

Hazards

Although exposure to Mana is fairly minimal when handling Edenite, in the process of using Edenite for particular rituals or for recharging an Edenite gem with Mana, there is the chance to be in contact with too much Mana, resulting in Transmorphification Syndrome and other such related illnesses. Alongside that, various elements can prove to be hazardous to one's health if handled improperly. For example, holding a highly energized Fire Edenite gem with no protection can result in burns, while holding a Dark Edenite gem can result in exposure to various night-terrors.

Reusability & Recycling

An Edenite gem can run out of energy. Rather than toss the gem out, however, people will often take the gems to Arcanists to recharge the gem with Mana, drawing from the nature surrounding them to fuel it with life. Alongside that, an Edenite gem can have its element changed at any time, as long as it's been exposed to whatever the new element is.

What an interesting material.   'it is a known fact that thanks to The Bloom, an estimated 5% of surface-level stone had been transmutated into Edenite, with the numbers for Edenite further underground being estimated to be in the 3-7% of conversion.' That is soooo much, oh my gosh. The Bloom must have been really something.
