Autobarrier Caster

Autobarrier Casters are small devices that are powered by a tiny Edenite Battery and have the ability to create Barriers. Created by FENRIR shortly after the Red Skies Incident, it has served as a useful way for one to protect themselves, often being given to high-risk individuals or to military forces under FENRIR's banner.

Utility

The Autobarrier Caster makes use of four things: The built in Edenite Battery, an Edenite gem infused with Barrier magic, an 'Energizer' Edenite gem, & a pressure-sensitive switch. When worn, the pressure switch sends a signal to a small mechanism attached to the Energizer Edenite Gem, which is designed to rapidly vibrate it, causing it to collide with the Barrier gem and begin casting it's magic. Within moments, the Barrier is formed around the wielder of the Autobarrier, keeping them protected.

The Autobarrier has a max usage time of an hour due to the low amounts of energy stored within the Edenite Battery. Although replacement of the Edenite Battery is relatively simple, the two other gems in it are much harder to replace due to the various types of refinements made to the gems themselves as well as the specific types of wards used for the Barrier magic within one of the gems.

Manufacturing

The process of making an Autobarrier Caster is divded into two parts: the shell and the mechanism itself. The shell is made out of a circular light-weight titanium alloy, one with a large hole on one of the flat ends for application to the human body. A meter is added to the other end to indicate how much of a charge the Autobarrier has left within it.

As for the mechanism itself, this requires the work of an Arcanist to work with both of the Edenite Gems.

Until The Withering occured, The Autobarrier Caster was developed in conjuction with Littaeur Magitek Engineering, and with the Littaeur Company's known tradition of keeping things secret to only those it trusts, the only ones whom knew much about how the Autobarrier Caster worked were both Littaeur Engineering & FENRIR. The Deepcore Foundation would reverse engineer the technology illegally, which prompted the creation of their own variant of the Autobarrier.

When The Withering occured, to further the development of more Autobarriers for public protection, Littaeur Magitek Engineering had opted to release the schematics and design freely, putting the required information out onto the Internet.
