Standard Living Quarters For Expat Citizenry
After The Withering, there were thousands who have lost faith in living within the cities and towns, wanting to get as far away as they could from people as possible. To compensate for this, horizons commissioned the construction of thousands of living quarters for individuals to live within, all scattered around the cities at best, and often secluded far in the wildernesses away from everything at the least.
Purpose / Function
These quarters are designed to act as a comfortable living abode, with all the basic necessities needed for people to live off the grid without needing to rely on standardized power systems or water sources. This includes:
- Solar Power & Thermalelectric Systems for Energy
- High-efficency Air Conditioning Unit
- Automated Waste Retrival and Disposal System
- Rainwater Harvesting & Purifying System
- Emergency Water Recycling System
- Internet Relay System (Upload Speed 20MBPS | Download Speed 200 MBPS)
- Agiograph Greeting Unit.
Each living quarter comes with a fully furnished kitchen including a stove-topped oven, microwave, blender, dishwasher, and sink. Alongside that, there is a fully furnished bathroom with hot water, and a proper laundry room. The living quarters, upon construction, can be outfitted with up to three bedrooms total.
The entryway into these living quarters are all on the surface, where the Aigograph Greeting Unit is positioned for visitors or delivery men to interact with. In the event of a Purple Haze, the entryway is designed to seal itself up with reinforced materials that prevent the heat from getting in.
Criticisms
Although the idea of isolating yourself from the cities had been a popular idea before The Withering, there have been many concerns by health professionals about the practice afterward. Severely limiting one's contact with the outside world has raised the risks of growing various fears and mental strains. Although this point has been made less concerning due to the usage of the internet and Cyberspace, there have been minor cases as reported by ARC about absolute isolation in a world that has a constant threat of burning alive or encountering various monsterous creatures eventually resulting in the development of various phobias.
Alongside this, there have been reports of people discovering monitoring equipment in their homes, such as cameras with microphones hidden in bedrooms or kitchens. Although horizons has denied any involvement with this, making suggestions of corporate sabotage and other parties that are trying to spy on people, there is no proof of their claims having any merit.
Design
The size of the quarters has varied in size from a minimum of 24' | 7.3m Width X 35' | 10.6m Length to 30' | 9.1 Width X 50' | 15.2 Length. These quarters are, at minimum, composed of:
- Living Room
- Entryway
- Kitchen
- Bedroom & Closet
- Bathroom
- Laundry
- Storage
