The Hestria Desert

"Beset on all sides by monsters, criminals, and dangers, one has only two choices. Succumb to that which surrounds you, or become worse than that which frightens you."
— Proverb of the Church of the Beetle.

The Southeastern most portion of the lands, seperated from the Fianzorfed Desert by the Imperial Eastern Front, the Hestria occupies the opposite side of the lengthy desert. The seperation of the Imperial Eastern Front created a variation in the societies of people living on either side. The Fianzorfed is more tame and relaxed in its occupying dangers and threats, leaving the majority of the flora and fuana depicted in the region to be that of the murderous sort. It isn't to say that there isn't a form of familial comfort in the sense that everything around could and would kill you, in fact it creates a more dedicated understanding to the minute details of live. Or so I've been told.

Geography

Occupying just under 10% of the total landmass accorded to the Empire of Five Kings and surrounding nations, the Desert Hesetria acts as a wide distance that is occasionally occupied by peoples familiar with the landscape. It takes quite a bit of work for a society to adopt itself around the natural dangers and experienced threats that spend their days and nights traversing the sands. Several Species are known to call the land home, including the widely domesticated Hestrian Sand Worms. , which are used as pack animals for the cities that have claimed slices of land, or carapace, from the surrounding wilderness.
It is with a heavy heart that this author rights the opinion that life, as it were, may find a way. In fact it may find several ways, but still must be noted that the societies and citizens within the land are considered to be widely insane for choosing to stay in the area and try their luck.

History

Pre-History

Allegedly the basis for society has come from the sands and dunes of the earliest localized areas of the Desert Hestria and the Fianzorfed Desert. The many races stepped from the sands and out into the sun to be born anew and with the grace of the creator on their side. These early people lived in harmony with one another, though in reality it is better to say that their socieites often found little to disagree on, and thus conflict was neglected for the simple requirements of surivival.

Those that survived through the winters, summers, and monsters, were given the greatest gift of all. A place to call their own. It was dangerous and willing to betray them and any work they put in, but it was theirs. They could do with it what they wished, and were able to do so with the magic granted to them from the merging with dragons and the teachings of the creator.
