Amongst the many varied and disparate ancestries of Azocar, humans are the most plentiful and commonplace. Though they don't represent an overall majority, there are some 15 million or more humans worldwide. They do make up the majority of people in numerous areas of the world but
Tasserania is the only continent where humans are more populous than all the other ancestries combined. Humans hold pluralities in the Central Continents and Ka-Lin but not majorities. It is only on Atalassia and smaller land areas such as the Mithanos Imperium, the Crescent, and
Starhaven where humans are a minority
Human Characteristics
Humans are widespread throughout the world which suggests their characteristics can an ddo vary greatly from place to place. In considering all humans of Azocar, the average height is about five feet and nine inches for adult men and five feet, six inches for women. Humans so diminutive they're below five feet in height or so lanky they're above seven feet are very rare but not unheard of. But these averages and extremes do vary from place to place. Complexion and skin tone as well as hair and eye color vary even more. The most variable of human characteristics from place to place is how they fit into the societies they live in.
Humans of Tasserania
Humans of the Eldess people are mostly fair-skinned with clear complexions, light-colored hair, and eyes ranging from light green or blue to deep greens bordering on brown or deeper shades of blue and navy. They also tend to be taller and stockier than others across Azocar who share the same ancestry. These traits are predominant throughout the continent but there is more variation the further south and east one travels from the Stormlands.
Centuries of contact with the Qur overland to the south and humans visiting overseas from all other parts of Azocar along the eastern coast of the continent has resulted in some variation. Humans from southeastern
Eldessar and all lands to the south can have a tendency for slightly darker skin are are more given to darker browns and even blacks in their hair color. However, light-colored eyes still predominate though mostly in shades of green and more rarely blue.
Eldess humans are the dominant force in the politics and culture of the upper third or more of the continent of Tasserania. Both of the so-called Eldess Kingdoms,
Elysia and Eldessar are ruled by, and have been for more than a millenium, human monarchies. There are examples of families or clans of other ancestries rising into the nobility of both but these are rare. Until very recently, both ruling families in the neighboring kingdoms could easily trace with ample evidence their lineages back to when they were one united Kingdom of the Eldess; almost thirteen centuries. Even the recent demise without an heir of
King Alfred, fifth of his name of Elysia, does not seem like it will upset this standing any. It is widely expected that the next ruling line of the kingdom will come from another of the ancient noble families.
Humans' place in society is strong throughout Tasserania. Though the settlements and people of the Borderlands consider themselves not beholden to either throne, they adhere to many of the same trappings and traditions. This seems like it might change, however. As the influence of
Varn's Gate spreads beyond the boundaries of the eponymous Valley it sits in, so do its traditions and norms. The largest free settlement on the continent has had many human Governors but it can also count elves, dwarves and others, including even orc-kin among its past rulers.
In the southern portion of Tasserania, even though elves regarded as the historic and cultural rulers of Tasserland, their rule is largely symbolic. There has always been an elven king (or queen), complete with all the trappings of nobility, but the actual power is shared equally among all the peoples of the land. While they are outnumbered by both, humans here still comprise a significant portion of the population of Tasserland. They are full participants in the structures of power and influence.

Azocar Humans in Gaming
Dungeons & Dragons 5E
In D&D 5E, Azocar humans are functionally identical to those in the core rules of the game. The vast majority of Azocar's humans are of the so-called "standard" variety. Which is to say they have the same ability modifications, aging guidelines, size, and speed. One minor difference is in the matter of languages spoken.
All humans are proficient in the common language of the place they were raised in (Eldess in Tasserania, Atal in Atalassia, Xin in Ka-Lin, etc.). However, because ancestral languages are rarely used except by the most traditionally minded members of an ancestry, it is rare for anyone to other than goblinoids to learn the goblin language and the like. It is instead more common for humans (and others) to be proficient in another language that originates in some other place or plane.
So-called "variant" humans as they are defined in 5E rules also exist in Azocar but their occurrence varies from place to place. In the Eldess Kingdoms, it is ordinarily the case that only children of the elite have the level of formal education and training that fundamentally changes their physical characteristics so as to enhance some to the detriment of others.
