Invertock Barrow
Stretching from the southern edge of the Greyhammer Peaks to the Sea, the Barrow comprise more than 35% of Lower Rendlea landmass. Almost entirely craggy highlands, the Barrow was once part of the great primeval forest that covered most of Mistfen Mire, but after years of civilization and exploitation by the old Rendlean Empire, the trees are now gone and only the vast craggy hills remain. Dozens of active and ruined canals crisscross the Barrows, which are dotted with hundreds of ruined temples, lost castles, and ghost towns. During the Dwarves war against the Rendlean Empire, Lower Rendlea was where the empire was hit hardest.
The winds blow steadily from east to west across the Barrow, rarely ceasing and bringing with them enormous thunderstorms in the late summer that can stretch the entire width of Lower Rendlea and last for days. Most of the dangers of the Barrow have passed as centuries of empire building and war scrubbed the land clean of large threats such as dragons. Today, the Barrows primary hazards are roving gangs, vagabond communities, and the occasional skirmish between governors of the various hillfolk tribes. The Barrow is still extremely dangerous, Ankhegs, bulettes, giant ants, and giant bees make up the larger threats throughout the rest of the Barrow.
