Mistfen Mire
The Mire, as its been so aptly dubbed by the populace, is a long stretch of land filled with deep woods, wet moors, treacherous barrow hills, and deep twisting tendrils of river-land. The Mire is separated by three distinct regions.
The north is what is known as Upper Rendlea known for The Fens, a huge stretch of moorlands. It is here that the reclusive and dangerous folk of the Fens live, making a life of mining the peat and pitch that flows forth from the ground. They are wary of any outsiders, and have been known to lead you astray for the shear fun of it rather than help.
The center of the Mire is a twisting mess of intertwining creek beds and deep rivers known as the Auchland River Basin. Its a notorious hideout for bandits and other nefarious people who have fled the towns along the coast to hide from the law. Bandits are not the only worry in this region, monsters are known to stalk prey here, the most deadly of them being drakes. River drakes are known to cause nearly a hundred deaths a year as they snatch complacent fishermen along the waters edge.
In the southern reaches of the Mire is the hilly lands of Lower Rendlea. In the east of lower Rendlea, the hills are lush and fertile, where Rendleans can easily grow whatever they like except spices. Lower Rendlea is notorious for unpredictable weather patterns that flow off of the Inner Sea and mix with the westerly winds from the Ocean. One day it can be bright and sunny, the next could be a blistering downpour with hundreds of tornadoes ripping through the hillocks.
