Whitecliffe Military
"Liberty or Death, Oorah!"
The Army of the Free World and the umbrella of which all of Whitecliffe's Forces are under. It's got similarities to our world's Armies and does more then just kill Grimm and people but also is a recognized emergency service with the ability to do that. It's one of the most experienced forces in the world and is considered pretty Progressive. Entrusted with a wide array of duties, the Soldiers, marines, Sailors and Pilots of the military are ready and willing to Defend the Free World and spread that Freedom to the furthest reaches.
Composition
Manpower
Whitecliffe isn't Atlas, they can't make a massive army of 100's of millions but achieves their goals from a smaller pool of soldiers, roughly floating somewhere around 1 Million all together and has been expanding. They do not engage in segregation or discrimination so have recruits from all walks of life and even has a system of Militant immigrants who want to serve the country they're gonna live in.
Equipment
As explained, Whitecliffe isn't as far ahead as Atlas but it is extremely well rounded, with great thought put into making sure that a Soldier has High performing equipment rather then the latest. Models and weapons get sold to the military based on practicality and while there is politics and fights about who should use what. They have been relatively successful in maintaining Whitecliffe's edge.
Weaponry
Weaponry in the Military is pretty up to date, they make use of the latest Fire Arms designed by Atlas and have their own Manufacturing going on inside of the Quasi-Country. The standard Ammo is Thumpers with other Ammo types being more mission specific. This means guns contain quite the kick so Whitecliffe weapon models tend to have moving barrels and high quality stocks to handle the recoil.
Vehicles
Most Whitecliffe Forces prefer to have APC's as their main Armoured Asset but do have tanks. Vehicles are varied and highly modular to fit multiple tasks. Mobility is a huge concern as Grimm can destroy vehicles easily, so having APC's capable of dishing out insane damage and be able to escape risky engagements is paramount. Their Tanks are designed with mobility in mind too, even if their tanks have Quad tracks out of cost concerns even though there is a demand to return to Single Tracks.
An Example of the M22 Hawk Striker with the Quad Tracks, seemingly easy to destroy the tank has special armour plates that can bounce incredble amounts of force and be light, however despite the long service history of the M22 MBT, a much heavier and tankier version is set to replace it, the M33.
The M33 MBT is likely to replace the M22 and still has the Quad Tracks to the annoyance of some but also has heavier armour. As well as Tread armor plates that can be put on or taken off. The Tank is lower profile and has much heavier armour with a powerful engine that reaches nearly comparable speeds of the M33. Doing away with the Autoloader, they upgraded to the Semi Manual loader that lets crews automate the loading if they wish but also has manual Loading for Main Guns
They also have better Stabilizers that enable larger cannons and greater versatility as well as turrets and sliding turret panels that let the Tank operate better in tighter spots and of course has APS and Laser Target definition and Motion sensors. The Tank is expected to come into service fully by 82 AGW.
Structure
The Military does not have a Uniform Structure, instead the difference forces has their own ranking structures. In general the structure is considered fairly loose, The Military prefers to have it where if disaster strikes, the Military's can continue operation in smaller cells and self designate objectives and carry out operations. Each force has a Main Combat Information Centre, a large organizational building with the main one being Beacon Citadel, a large Citadel spire near Beacon Hill.
Tactics
Versatility, Adaptability and Mobility. All are essential words and considerations. When it comes to Companies of soldiers or squadrons of Jets or Battlefleets of ships. Whitecliffe doesn't like being in one place for too long. Even their own bases can be swiftly picked up and flown away if the enemy gets too close. Even when in static positions, those positions are full of assets that can pull back to another line quickly.
When it comes to Grimm the Whitecliffe military prefers to wipe out small pockets of Grimm so they can't gather up into larger forces. The idea of asset denial is big here, when they find spawning pools they will fire bomb them. When they find packs they'll kill some off and this enables a very aggressive but successful strategy against the Grimm as they cannot organize enough to pose a real threat.
Though there are limitations, the Lack of Giant Armies and limitless funds does mean that the Military can't kill as many Grimm as they would like.
Logistics
Logistical Support
Support is normally airborne, due to the mobile nature. unless there is static positions there is very little need for high speed rails and Airships are able to carry incredible amounts of supplies enabling the military to build bridges, supply troops, field special Operations. House Air support and much, much more. In terms of resources the Military does on site collection as well as getting shipments.
Using Robots they're able to achieve this and preserve manpower for combat operations. Airships can also come with Hydroponic labs allowing Military forces to grow the food their soldiers will go on to eat. Each airship is powered by Dust reactors and requires high quality dust creating a supply constraints focused around Dust thus meaning that the Military is almost always looking for more Dust.
An example of a Atlas Thunderhawk Airship being used by The Whitecliffe Military, often outfitted with twice the number of guns and juiced up reactors. Making them more explosive upon destruction.
Helicarriers are favored for Logistics thanks to their immense capacity and are often guarded by Thunderhawk Airships. These Helicarriers also often house Jets, helicopters, VTOLs and whatnot that can be used to ferry supplies down below.
Upkeep
Due to the sophistication of the Technology, Lithium, Silicone, Rich Dust, RRM's (Rare Remnant Materials) and other metals are extremely important giving the Whitecliffe Military a pretty high upkeep which is why field collection of resources is so important. They cannot afford to just dump units and vehicles onto a battlefield like Atlas can so they have to make every penny count. Of course they also used up quite a bit of the budget they received with not much wriggle room to the annoyance of some military officials.
Recruitment
Recruiting from a wide array puts a lot of emphasis on Boot Camp which last 22 weeks training soldiers an wide array of skills they select upon entering and train for the roles they wish to have with Core skills being taught such as Radio discipline, marksmanship, basic First Aid and engineering and a few other skills like navigation. What they look for is people willing to put their lives on the line for their country.
Teaching them how to be Fierce Freedom Fighters and Guardians of the people rather then just as Mean Green killing machines.
History
The Military as we know it is the legacy of the previous Militias that defended the city during the Great War Era and despite heralding from a Non-Kingdom faction has been involved in multiple conflicts. It's also been involved in defending Whitecliffe's virtues and is actually quite unique in this. Another Unique trait in this Military is a lack of acceptance for war crimes. Even when done in difficult situations, it is done with the understanding and acceptance of punishment and expects it.
They also have fought Grimm across the world and has taken a serious beating multiple times, learning a lot from them and defending invaluable Scientific expeditions to learn more about the Grimm.
Historical loyalties
Throughout history, The Whitecliffe Military has been strictly loyal to Democracy and the Country they defend. This is done thanks to upbringing and the actual benefits the Country has for those who live within it. Soldiers have a cause to fight for, no matter where they are in the world. This keeps them focused and determined even when the end goal isn't in sight.
