Lisanne was nearly 20 years older than her husband and King, and chosen for him to marry from amongst the Kingdom's rich and influential because the council was in a state of panic when Queen Myria Dell died without a legitimate heir, leaving the throne to childless Karston. However, Lisanne was never in great health. She struggled to conceive, and died about a year after her daughter was born from complications of her pregnancy and childbirth. She and Karston were never more than cordial; she was by all accounts somewhat vapid and unpleasant, and the King did not like her, much less love her.
