Oriath

The capitol city of the Free Territory of Galanthis, Oriath is a port city of some size. It is home to the territory's three branches of government as well as its renowned school for training the famous mages and captains who make seafaring safe and efficient.

Demographics

Oriath is, above all, a trade and port city. The inhabitants are many and varied. Most major organizations of the world have outposts here - guilds, unions, schools, religions, governments, you name it. Organizations are king here - free citizens who are not represented and protected by some sort of larger organization have little to no social standing or protection, legal or otherwise.

Government

Oriath is the home to the territory's governing bodies: the Premier, the elected legislature, and the judicial branch. Organizations are taxed by the government, and in turn can demand the tithes and fees they wish of their members, in exchange for the protection - legal and physical - funded by their organization's pocketbooks.

Defences

Oriath's, and Galanthis', defences come from their strong strategic position on the channel between the Crater Sea and Great sea, their wealth, and the fact that almost every ship on the seven seas has a mage who is Galanthian-trained to ensure safe passage on the unpredictable oceans.

Industry & Trade

While they have in a hand in almost all trade worldwide, their main export is the mages who make seafaring possible.

Infrastructure

This city is full of mages and guildpeople: innovators all, and those with money like their creature comforts. It has excellent sanitation and well systems, providing clean fresh water for all. More modern comforts are available to anyone able to pay for the luxury of magic - running water, heated water, magelight, etc. It is a walkable city.

Districts

Dock District - the first level of the city, this is the area directly adjacent to the city's port. It is mostly warehouses and the cheapest taverns, inns, brothels, and shops visited only by the poorest of the poor sailors and travelers. It is home to the city's thriving black market and criminal enterprises.   Copper District - the second level of the city, and the first relatively safe place to be. Most common folk who live in the city have homes and workshops here.   Silver District - the third level of the city, this is where most of the city's organizations have their headquarters and where the wealthy live.   Gold District - the middle of the city, the Gold District is home to government buildings and homes of the elite, as well as some of the biggest and most influential organizations.

Assets

You can find basically anything in Oriath, if you are willing and able to pay for it - in gold or in anything else you can barter.
