Eron Lake

Geography

Eron Lake lies near the center of the landmass of the continent of Austra. It is very wide, with an island at the center that can just barely be seen from the shores of the lake. The lake itself is freshwater.

Localized Phenomena

Nothing much is known about the lake itself or the island at the center - because there is no known successful journey to the island and back. Those who attemp a journey to the island either get disoriented and swim or sail until they are exhausted and rescued, drown, turn back, or disappear. The lake seems to be often covered with fairly thick fog from abotu halfway out, making it difficult to see more than the vague idea of the outline of the island.

Climate

Surrounded mostly by plains and savannah, with warm breezes from the Mourning Desert, the climate is fairly warm most of the year here with fairly mild winters and warm summers. There can be a fairly substantial fall storm season to contend with, which coincides with that of the fall storm season in the Desert.

Fauna & Flora

The most notable animal found in the lake that isn't found around it anywhere else is the Eron Otter.

Natural Resources

Fishing from the mainland side shore or the mainland area of the lake is supreme in Eron lake, as are the freshwater pearls. The water itself is sometimes bottled and sold, both as a "cure-all" panacea to the desperate but also as a magic ingredient to the more discriminating who do understand that it has some strange properties when mixed with other ingredients and artifacts.

Tourism

Eron Lake is a favorite place for summer homes for the noble and wealthy, and even a commoner tourist industry has sprung up. The mystery of the island just increases the appeal.

The mysterious island on Eron Lake contains a whole organization...but if you know, they might have to kill you.

Nobody in the world seems to know what is in the center of the lake, but that doesn't mean there isn't anything there...
