Personal history
Sibel was their father's youngest and his heir, second child with his second wife Lalzari. Despite Taylan's insistence that the throne should always go to the most qualified individual, not follow the oldest child convention that was the norm in the rest of the world, there was some doubt amongst his supporters when he chose his youngest child, a 15-year-old daughter, to inherit when he died, whether he chose his favorite child or the best suited. There were many who favored steady Beyhan or cunning Asil for the throne (though basically none who wanted the King to pick Roshan). Despite their doubts, Sibel would take the throne and hold it, finishing their father's second war and declining to start one of their own.
Instead of starting another war, Sibel focused on building infrastructure and strength within the Kingdom. Though there was great scrutiny on their choice, they quietly married; a shocking choice of a fourth son of an unlanded nobleman: Mander Sial. They had two daughters, Necla Sial and Sone Sial. Sibel broke tradition in both giving their children their partner's surname rather than the Talat family name, and then again in choosing their brother Roshan's son Vadim as heir despite not adopting or fostering their nephew.
Gender Identity
While very feminine-presenting and accepting the titles of "Princess" and "Queen" as necessary, Sibel identified as nonbinary and most documents, stories, and histories of this time reflect that beyond certain ceremonial niceties and the requirements of bearing children, their wishes were generally respected.
