Personal history
Taylan Talat was born in the Kingdom of Delryn, and raised and educated alongside the high nobility there. His parents had been part of the groups of nobles who were working to create the Kingdom, alongside the Cyprien Dell and his family. However, Taylan's parents had different ideas about how the country should be governed and became quickly frustrated. They began to garner their own supporters and following, and when Taylan was 27, they left for the neighboring continent of Austra to start their own settlement. Taylan withdrew from a promising military career to travel with them, along with his older sister Taheri.
They were at first welcomed to the new continent, and were able to establish a first city and begin to settle. Taylan found himself one of the rising stars of the new settlement, with his education and military background, and no few machinations of his parents behind the scenes to make sure he stayed that way. He was a natural leader, which certainly didn't hurt, and well-liked by the people who had come with them or who joined them later. However, as they continued to want to expand and settle, tensions began to rise with the native people. When they declared themselves a Kingdom in CE 11490, it wasn't well received and newly-crowned Taylan found himself a King fighting a war (13 Years War).
Over time, Taylan took two wives, and having more than one spouse was accepted and normal in the Kingdom they were building. With his first wife, he had his oldest son, Asil Talat. With his second wife, he had his other two biological children, Roshan Talat and Sibel Talat. He also fostered his sister's son Beyhan Talat and raised him as his own in his household. With a firm belief that the best person should succeed him, in the end he bypassed all of his sons and chose Sibel as the next sovereign of Ostar.
Taylan was killed during the second war he fought for Ostar, the Peninsular War.
Education
Taylan had access to the finest education; he was educated alongside the princes and princesses and highest nobility of Delryn and then received officer training in their military from some of their brightest minds, including Ivan and Adrian Arion.
