The Elven City of Amaryll (AMM-ah-rill)
The city of Amaryll is one of two major elven hubs on the mainland of Wyrmwuld, and is also home to one of the continent's three Archtrees.
In addition, this is where the temple to Auriel, the Golden Lady of Fortune resides - her home when she visits the material plane.
Demographics
Although it is known as the "Elven City," Amaryll is in fact a melting pot of every race imaginable. Even races which normally abhor the company of others, such as Drow or Bugbears, can be found here. It might seem a difficult job to maintain the peace, but in fact it's super easy; barely an inconvenience!
This is due to the presence of Ysgogoch, Archtree, whose pollen provides a subtle euphoria and serenity to all who come in contact with it - with very few exceptions, such as constructs like the Warforged. These races are discouraged from making their home in the city, and as such are harder to come by.
Government
The city, as well as the country of Sundew, are ruled by Faelee Rainwhisper, a high elf who keeps things running thanks to her cool head, resourcefulness, and impressive memory for detail.
Although she takes no part in actual ruling of the country, the Golden Lady makes her home here and makes her desires known on the rare occasion that Faelee makes a decision that displeases her. However, overall it seems as if Faelee is looked upon very fondly by The Lady.
Infrastructure
The city is built around - and heavily includes - the archtree. Arched stairways wind up the side of the tree, bringing travelers to gorgeous and immense raised terraces. Tall spires topped with crystal jut upwards into the lower branches, and arched wooden bridges connect countless platforms, making for a complex and highly vertical navigation experience. For this reason, guides are employed by the city itself, and are often found leading both tourists and citizens alike to their destinations.
Districts
There are several distinct "floors" to Amaryll. The lowest floor, or Moss District, is home to creatures that are comfortable in darkness and close proximity to solid ground. Lizardfolk, Rock Gnomes, Dwarves, and more make their lives down here. Although the majority of the district is dimly lit, there are bright moss lanterns on major thoroughfares leading up to the next district.
The second floor is a terrace known as the Brush District. It houses primarily workers for the businesses above.
The following floors increase in both brightness, decor, and class delineation; they are known as the Bough district, the Branch district, and the Canopy district.
Most businesses exist on the bough district, although there are several above as well. It is the top terrace that houses Faelee and her court.
The final district exists even above the Canopy, and this is where the temple to Auriel, Golden Lady of Fortune can be found.
