The Divine Nine

The Divine Nine consists of Auriel-The Dawnfather, Tyrael-The Lawbringer, Melora-The Wildmother, Azariah-The Traveler, Duriel-The Stormlord, The Raven Queen, Mystra-The Mother of All Magic, Theas-The Helm of Gods, and Selûne-Moonmaiden. The nine deities were brought to this world by the Immortals so that these deities could help protect the world and make sure that it wouldn't fall back into the hands of The Eldest or any other divine being who would fill up the power vacuum that was left. In exchange for doing that, the people of Xelia would have to pray and create temples for the Gods, so that their power could reach them.    People were apprehensive at first, but as time went on and with the help of the Immortals, the power and worship of the Gods had spread across the world as they had seen the good that they had brought upon the world. Through that time people slowly were creating names for this pantheon of Gods and ended up referring to them as The Divine Nine due to the divine power that they had made common in the world and by the amount of them.    As the millennia went on, the Gods ended having their own holidays, books, and days on the calendar. They have their own temples, statues, and countries across the world dedicated to them. Even though they have all of this power, it didn't stop them from having their own competition.    While The Divine Nine was growing in power in their early days, it caught the attention of opposing Gods of this new world. These opposing Gods came both before and after The Divine Nine had shown up on Xelia. Even though they did not get as powerful as the Divine Nine, they still were able to get their own books, temples, statues, and countries under their control. Some even still being loyal to The Eldest believing that it will eventually be back to rule over Xelia once more.    The Divine Nine oppose these Gods through their followers and try to spread the light of their ways through the world. They do this to not force others to believe in them, but rather to give them the opportunity to. The Divine Nine does not condone killing in their name unless it is out of self-defense or to defend the innocent. They don't want wars to be fought if others simply don't follow their pantheon, but would rather try to convince them to see the errors in the ways of following The Sinister Seven. Those who have been convinced and turn to The Divine Nine must make a holy pilgrimage to a temple of one of the Gods, or to The Temple of the Nine and pledge themselves to The Divine Nine.
