Simulacra

The Simulacra are an alien race capable of shape-shifting by ingesting other's brains, gaining their skills and memories in the process. These capabilities degrade as the brain is digested, until they lose the ability to do so after the brain is fully digested, which takes roughly four weeks.

The existence of the simulacra seems to be confined to the Calixis Sector, specifically the Malfian Sub-sector with a high concentration of hiveworlds.
