Blight

Blight, also called soldier’s blight and mother’s blight, is a fatal condition that causes the core to overheat due to inconsistent and invalid signals from a damaged mechanism. It is often difficult to detect as it is comorbid with injury, but not actually visible itself. Blight will cause a robot to rapidly lose energy, weaken, and gradually overheat to the point of blowout.   Blight has affected robots across all types and nations for centuries, and continues to be one of the leading causes of death among the general population. Unfortunately, little progress has been made for a cure, and current treatments only delay the inevitable.

HISTORY

Texts dating thousands of years ago described a condition in which a robot would weaken to the point of incapacitation, overheat, and eventually die of blowout. It most commonly affected wounded and/or recovering soldiers and mothers who had recently given birth, and was named ‘solider’s blight', ‘mother’s blight' or blight.   (tba)
