The Elven Moon
Our Team plays patsy on a dubious delivery run to an empty sector. It turns out that it's not so empty as they find themselves at the location of a moon that's being habitformed and a full capital Hegemony complement.
Plot points/Scenes
Set Up - Special Delivery: The team makes contact with the Pirate Queen and contracts a package to be delivered to the Red Corridor.
Getting Trapped in the Red Corridor: As the Team approaches the coordinates for the waiting ship, in the middle of nowhere, instead of finding a lone ship drifting near that big red star, they find a half-dozen ships of dwarven make, plenty of smaller vessels of various makes and models, a full SCU station in orbit around that sun, and—the Royal Glory.
After they dock, detained, and searched, the ship is found to be carrying explosives which the Team was unaware of in the cargo of Spice they were carrying. They convince Ariallatta Glittering, of the Department of Volatile Magic, that the were innocent patsies and he gives them 48 hours to resolve the issue and report it to him.
On the Trail - At the Bar: Jax Star (troll), proprietor, Jack’s Bar, gives them the lowdown on the political situation. Dee gets drunk and almost gives Debreu a hard time before he passes out and embarrasses himself - his new girlfriends leave him.
Contact: Grun’s Third Arkus Darkblade (orc; can get stuff), member of the Royal Navy, admits that he set up the deal and was supposed to get the bomb off of the ship and to the cargo bay of one of the dwarven mining ships, but the stupid patsies that had it got caught. He informs that Lararion contracted the bomb, hoping to force the dwarves to run away.
Tracking Down the Colonist: Lararion of Verdanteye (elf, Habiforming Engineer, would be sabouteur) talks to the Team who convinces her that even if the dwarves left, the Hegemony would take over. They get her proof by getting a copy of the logs on the station. With proof that they're telling her the truth, she turns themselves in.
Conclusion: They are set free, their processing having been completed and their ship was clean. Their "real" cargo was confiscated since it is a highly controlled substance in Hegemony space. It's just that someone forgot to tell them that.
