Balifra Mageforge, University's Forge
Balifra left her home Dhor of Karghard after hearing stories of humans mastering magic. Her own family was involved in creating all kinds of weapons and armors, but like any dwarf they had access to divine blessings or rune magic. Never had a dwarf attempted to learn magic from humans or the elves before and she felt like it was a wasted opportunity.
As she prepared to venture east to Eversted and its famous University many tried to disuade her, claiming it a folley and also pointing at dwarfen traditions. Yet the stubborn young dwarf wasn't willing to let go of this idea. Ridiculed by family, friends and peers she just felt more motivated to prove them wrong and foolish to ignore such knowledge, for she knew that the elves accomplished more than the thickheaded and proud dwarfs in the past.
When she reached Eversted she directly applied at the university offering them her service as blacksmith for the chance to learn magic. The majority of the arch mages approaved the idea and so her stay at the university began - more than 120 years ago, thus making her one of the oldest members of the university.
Balifra still plans to return home one day and prove all the doubters wrong, for she has learned new techniques and opened up new possibilities for enchantments the rune masters and priests at home could never dream of. But to this day, she is still focused on accumulating more knowledge and experience before she makes her journey back.
Balifra can be found on the isle of the university. Her shop is a little hidden in the back so that her hammering doesn't disturb the lessons and experiments. While she is a quite accomplished blacksmith herself, she often uses services of local craftsmen and instead focuses on enchanting the items masterfully. Many of the artifacts made in the Realm of the Middle in the last 120 years passed through her skilled hands.
