Kaupang
Kaupang, a small but important trading port, know for its excellent Iron-Smith. Centered around a dockyard, booming with sea traffic from merchants and Vik travelers. The dock extends out into a strait know as The Serpents Tail that connects the three regions of the Vik. Beyond the dock, is a busy courtyard centered with a large rune-stone know as the World Serpent Rune-Stone. Small merchant shops and homes made of pine and birch wood with straw roofing surround the courtyard and hug the land at the base of The Iron Mountains that rise high to the north. Cold rushes of wind move down from The Iron Mountains though the settlement. Farm land outskirt the bulk of the settlement. The smell of pine and birch trees flow through the air. At night the stars reflect off the water of The Serpents Tail, sparkling like cosmic constellations.
Demographics
Goliath native to the Norvik territory make up most of Kaupang's population, although other Human and Orc Vik citizens have migrated over time. Kaupang consist of a few social classes. Slaves from mainly foreign territories are at the bottom and often tasked with labor work on farms. In the middle class, craftsmen make up most of Kaupang's workforce. The wealthiest craftsman are the local blacksmiths that deal mainly with forging tools, weapons, and armor with iron from The Iron Mountains. Due to heavy sea traffic Boat-Makers also make a decent living crafting and repairing ships. Along the outskirt of the town are a few farms that raise many animals year around and grow crops during the summer. At the top of Kaupang's social class is Gauthak Ha-vard Jarl Of Kaupang. Gauthak Ha-vard Jarl Of Kaupang owns the land of Kaupang and collects land taxes from the townsfolk.

Defences
Surprisingly, Kaupang isn't fortified by walls or active warriors. Invaders are deterred due to the shallow waters and the high sea traffic of merchants and Norvik warships passing through The Serpents Tail. Additionally The Iron Mountains provide natural walls against invaders from the north. Most people of Kaupang are trained warriors by culture and are readily able to defend the settlement.
Industry & Trade
Kaupang is a major trade port for the Norvik people that imports and exports a variety of goods by sea travel. The major exports are iron goods such as tools weapons, and armors. Due to lack of fertile farmland and harsh cold winters the import of foods are an extremely important import to feed the territory. Goods such as beads, spices, jewelry, wine, and ceramic wares are also imported from other Vik and foreign territories.
