Sakara Birdwatching University
History
Sakara Birdwatching University is a relatively recent addition to the Education District of the city. Built from an abandoned factory, this University is a small-scale take on hyper-modern architecture best seen in this city.
The University was founded in 984, making it only 58 years old. The founder, Marka Maral, had spent her entire life birdwatching, transforming what was a hobby into a beyond successful career. The Sakara State University was her chance to spread her knowledge about the craft. Finding a student body wasn't difficult; birdwatching is an increasingly popular hobby that attracts more and more people as time goes on.
The University first opened in 985, with a first wave of seventy-nine students, making up four classes. The University was rated 99th in the Top Universities in Osao in just the first year, which boosted its status and attracted hundreds more students in the coming years.
Sakara Birdwatching University is now home to around nine-hundred students, each enrolling in a two-year program. The University has achieved fifteenth place in the Top Universities on Osao in the most recent year, the highest ranking they have ever achieved.
Campus
Sakara Birdwatching University sits on 1,300 square acres within the Educational District of its city. The main building is situated on a large ledge that looks out onto the Osao Ocean. The main campus is home to seven different aviaries, custom-built to suit seventy different bird species from all five continents on the planet.
The campus also has student accommodation in the form of two apartment complexes. These can house up to two hundred students in a hundred different apartments, for two years at most.
Course & Subjects
There is just a single course in this University, which all professors specialise in. The diploma earned after completing this course is a Royal Slime Birdwatching Degree invented alongside this University. This degree is practically useless if you want to do anything other than birdwatching. Having this degree will earn you the respect of practically any other birdwatcher around, unless the other birdwatchers have the same degree, then expect a rivalry.
Birdwatching 101
The most basic subject on this course is Birdwatching 101. This subject offers little details, rather focusing on introducing students to the subject. The singular exam at the end of the first year has a 100% pass rate.
This subject is only available in the First Year, unless one chooses to skip the first year but this is incredibly unlikely; only 0.003% of students skip First Year.
Avian Behaviour
Avian behaviour is vastly complex, and with thousands of species over countless taxons, there is a serious variety amongst behavioural patterns. This course is the only two-year course due to the syllabus being so detailed.
The subject involves several practical lessons, where students must interact with a handful of native Osaoan bird species in various situations, to instigate new behaviours in birds.
Birdwatching Tools
Engineer birdwatchers are constantly designing new technologies to watch birds. This First Year course will introduce students into various equipment to aid in studying birds.
