Donacca
Basic Information
Biological Traits
Lean muscle is often the standard of young active Donacci, however these lithe hunters often gain curves of fat deposits if they are successful, insulating them in the cold waters and providing nutrient reserves during the hard hunts.
Teeth are the most valuable part of a Donacca’s arsenal, they grow back frequently and often fall out as new sharp teeth force out old dull teeth. Donacca teeth are as sharp and hard as obsidian, though with a durability closer to iron and steel.
Penises and Vaginas are part of Donacci Reproduction and Penises often present as pairs. Many reefs have varying traditional ideals regarding the use of the dual phallus compared to the singular vaginal opening. Some Reefs venerate the Right or Left phallus as a 'clean' member that can be used for breeding while the opposite is used for recreation and asserting dominance.
Civilization and Culture
Naming Traditions
The Donacca language is complex and historied, but from an outsider's perspective their first names sound similar to Aussie slang while their surnames sound similar to Lamniforme genus names.
Examples include:
Noggon Alopiar (M),
Warvo Telodon (M)
Brokky Carbiki (F)
Dacca Protoko (M)
Bludga Keasius (F/M)
Sheala Cetormax (F)
Kandu Isrus (M)
Melly Carcha (F)

Major Language Groups and Dialects
Slang:
Gumtooth: Older, weak, senile.

"Me at me fin Brokka took down a 'Tex Hag ya ruffcunt, woulda sucked the whole reef in if we dinna gut her"
"Too right? Well ges Warvo aint all sponge after all, fine ges you n your fin's proper Teldon then"
Culture and Cultural Heritage
Donacca are free-spirited and competitive by nature, they often mingle with many different species and get along with anyone that can share an interest with them. Though Donacca are often seen as intimidating brutes a well fed Donacca is more keen to lounge and trade stories of successful hunts. Donacca often become bounty hunters but just as easily individual Donacca can find success and contentment on hydrofarms and crustacean ranches. Donacca homeworld culture shuns poachers thus making Donacca who take up poaching the more dangerous and freightening of their breed.
Common Customs, Traditions and Rituals
Donacca aren’t believers in biological family, and more of an “it takes a village” philosophy. Where all members of a reef look out for newborn pups and raise them right. Neither the biological mother nor the father takes sole responsibility.
Donacca that leave the reef are either on the hunt or seeking a mate. Hence why Donacca culture is very much one of hook-up culture.
Donacca never enslave members of their own species however they mark Slaves of other species with a careful bite that is intended to leave a permanent scar on most species. They Highlight these slave marks with Tattoos. Freed slaves are often given a bracelet or necklace of their master's old teeth as a sign of their freedom.
Spacefaring Donacci often see the vessel they travel with as their reef and thus see their crew as family. On Donacci majority vessels one portion of the ship will be converted into an aquarium-like recreation and rest area to allow the Donacci crew to operate without their Hydro-Breathing Apparatus for a brief time. Donacca individuals on diverse vessels often must make due with regularly applied "Tub Time" or depend entirely on their respirators.
History
Many Reefs And Cultures:
The Planet of Bruz surface is 90% covered in water, the warm band around the equator being salt water and where most of the Donaccan reefs reside known as the Shallows. Wide oceans of freshwater at the poles are frozen into ice caps that serve as the only true land masses on Bruz, under the surface of these icecaps a vibrant ecosystem of arctic-adapted crustaceans populate the depths while colonies of macrobacteria feed off microscopic fungi and feed massive fish known as Ice Buffalo. The exceedingly rare supermassive predator species known as Vortex Hags exist in these depths, the mystery of their life cycle as famous as the devastation that follows in their wake. Reefs on the edge of the Shallow Warm Band are famous for their methods of hunting in the freshwater caps, having first developed rebreather technology before the age of space-faring allowed them to perfect the devices. Most scholars studying the Donacci evolution have noted that Donacci civilization may have begun in the Warm Belt after proto-Donacci began to evolve concurrently alongside a companion species known as Crush Dogs. proto- Donacca hunters found that proto-Crush dogs were uniquely suited to breaking the thick shells of robust mollusks that populated the reefs of the Donac region. Proto-Donacci had previously subsisted on the food gained from hard-won hunts of prey species in their waters, including proto-crush dogs. However, at a certain point, proto-donacci began to protect Crush Dogs and reap the bounties of crush dog packs being able to hunt more efficiently. The Symbiotic relationship allowed for the first Donacca Reefs to form and for culture to begin to develop as no longer did Donacca hunters have to compete with each other and live solitary lives. Certain reefs took on other companion species, Sparrow Shrimp were able to protect Donacca reefs from Butcher Squids and while Donacca could not eat the toxic squid the Shrimps were able to digest and neutralize the toxins, becoming fat and a pleasant meal once old and tender. While the native animal species of Bruz cannot safely leave the planet like Donacca can the current theory as to why Donacca take on companions of other species such as Humans stems from an evolved instinct to collaborate with the animals of their ecosystem to prosper.Classification
