Treagin Bernaldt

The second son of Jakob Bernaldt. Cocky, fun-loving, and a little slow when it comes to brains. Treagin wants nothing more than to master the way of the sword. He brazenly declares himself to be the greatest swordsman who ever lived and will gladly fight anyone who will challenge that claim. He cares little for politics and noble affairs, and instead wants to adventure and fight strong opponents.

Post-War

Having been delayed due to the growing threat of Mother Gristlegums in the swamp, Treagin and Serene go on a world-spanning coming-of-age journey in search of diamonds to resurrect Damian’s wife and son, with Nora tagging along. They travel to all kinds of far-off places, having wild adventures (usually due to Treagin finding trouble one way or another), all three of them becoming closer together. As they traveled, Treagin continually pronounced himself the greatest swordsman in the world, causing many people to promptly prove that he wasn’t (yet anyway). He got in many fights with many great warriors, and learned all kinds of fighting techniques. He trained with swords masters from across the world, and greatly improved his skill.   After a few years away from home, the three returned, successful in their quest, and Treagin got to see his sister in law and nephew again.   Relatively uninterested in statecraft or governance, to his father’s annoyance, Treagin dedicated his life to the sword. He became a legend throughout Grattenmar for his skill, winning every tournament he participated in with ease, and being feared on the battlefield. When there was no one left to beat, he found duels in the Court and beyond, though he never stopped trying to improve. After all, Opal and Raina still existed, so he couldn’t think of himself the strongest, could he?   Treagin and Nora, having fallen deeper in love through their journeys together, get married after she asks for his hand in marriage. They raise eight children together, though with as childish as they both are, they end up relying a lot on their relatives and Nora’s own mother to actually raise the children and not just play along. Still, they have a happy life together, performing heroics for the people of grattenmar, and teaching their kids about swordplay and Erastil.   Treagin often brags that he almost married the Empress of the Empire, much to Nora’s jealousy and annoyance.
