Elves

GLOBAL ARTICLE INTRODUCTION BLOCK
Elves, much like their living ancestors, the Eladrin , who were also commonly called elves, were a long-lived race of the Tel-Quessir found most commonly in forests, shrublands, and other wildernesses. From time to time the elves organized strong nations, though with far less frequency than Eladrin, in some cases adopting even a nomadic lifestyle.   Many Elves suffer from a form of Dermatillophobia and secular stagnation, in such the fear of normalcy and crave uniquity. It is as of yet unknown if this is a genetic or magical affliction that plagues many Elves but whatever the cause, Elven kind has many remedies for this condition. Some traditions demand that at their coming of age they create a mask unique to themselves, This is due to elven perception of uniquity, Most Elves are beautiful and after so many years of seeing faces they begin to see that faces all blend together eventually. There are only so many combinations genetics can pull out of its sleeve. Imagine seeing your mother's face, the same as yours, and your daughters, and so on. Some Elves live in cities with humans and other races. Others live in tribe like areas, isolated. Wherever they are most elves have the significance of their mask with them. It is custom tailored and crafted to be unique, something a face cannot do by itself. Younger Elves without masks are a fairly common sight as they haven't come of age yet. Some subraces and subcultures of elves have different solutions the Wood Elves for example tend to paint themselves with mud and clay based face paints aswell as mystic tattoos. While another subrace belonging to the elvish line the Drow have almost completely forsaken masks due to the exposure to the underdark magics seemingly curing the affliction though not without its own side effects.   Physically speaking Elves stood on average 5′4″‒6′0″ (1.6‒1.8 m) and weighed 130‒170 lb (59‒77 kg). Usually, true elves were a naturally slender and athletic race. Underneath whatever mask or coverings that may be in use Elves had a similar range of complexions to humans, with wood elves typically coppery or pale skinned and wild elves having darker pigmentation. Often, elven hair was dark, either brown or black, with copper red or blond hair also found amongst wood elves, although orange or even green hues were not completely unheard of. Elven eyes are commonly brown, hazel, or an emerald green. Elves, like their cousins the eladrin, were fair and beautiful, handsome, and had pointed ears and no body hair except eyebrows, eyelashes, and hair. Although there are exceptions such as the Sea Elves who have gills and scales to allow for underwater living.
