Analean

The largest of the surviving High Elven cities.   Analean was once the home of a host of great gem dragons of the Fey. However all but the obsidian dragons were lost to the city when it transported to the material plane. Having recovered from this loss of their iconic mascots, Analean is the largest of High Elven cities that remain.   It is the most grand city I have ever seen. Flowingly carved marble and beautiful towering fountains extend across all districts of the city, leaving no one area looking anything less than a royal quarter of any human city. Banners fly from rooftops and hang from the great walls, stark white rimmed in gold with the chosen dragon of each house emblazoned in blues, reds and oranges.

Demographics

Only high elves are permitted to live within the city, a small district some two or three miles from the city was built to house any visitors or traders to the city, however at the turn of spring the district is audited by the nobility of records and any considered to have fulfilled their usefulness or are made redundant by either elves or other outsiders are sent away.

Industry & Trade

Nearly all trade occurs between each of the three sister cities, with strict limits placed on the export of anything to the outside world. As such elven goods that may be common place in the three cities are rare delicacies in the outside world.

History

When the city was transported to the material plane, the majority of their dragons were left behind by some quirk of the magic of the cataclysm. Those that remained were the obsidian dragons and, perhaps seeing their fall from grace abandoned the city of Analean to head out over the mountains to the west and slumbered for centuries in the mountains. It was the elves of Edhil Elyren that have managed to awaken some of their number from their slumber, this is a painful blow to the descendants of the dragon princes of Analean who once rode the mighty beasts into battle and remains a point of contention between the two cities to this day.
