Ilthmar
The city of the white lion has an imposing presence rather than the opulent grandeur of Analean and Lyh Ishana. Great bastion towers are all that are visible on approach on approach to the city, piercing through the permanent mists that shroud Ilthmar.
The ruin brought about by the cataclysm is on greater display here. A great tower that had once housed the greatest mages of Elven kind lays where it fell, flattening the Zauberwald under it and presumably a large chunk of the city itself, though inside the city walls no evidence of this is left. Before it fell the mages' tower must have pierced the clouds, so great was it. Now the ever growing Zauberwald has reclaimed it.
The people of Ilthmar seemed to me to be more hostile than in other cities. I had grown used to the condescension of high elves and generally being ignored as insignificant, but here guards tightened their grip on great axes as I passed, angry eyes narrowed behind ornate helms, wine lounges fell silent on my entry and delicatessens refused my coin.
Demographics
Purely high elves, no others are allowed.
History
Being pulled from the Fey Wild in the Cataclysm brought ruin to the city, Though within the cities boundaries the damage has been repaired, scars of this event still dot the surrounding landscape.
I learned in Lyh Ishana (the only high elf city that allowed me access to a library, though I was not allowed to read the books myself, only to request information from a librarian) that the white lion was not always the symbol of the city but was taken up after entering the material plane. In a new world they saw as far lesser than their own they saw the white lions of the surrounding hills as the only being worthy of praise, as it reflected their power and ferocity alongside their elegance and regality.
