Knights Grievance
Composition
Manpower
A handful of knights lead by a Chaptermaster who answers directly to Vollert d'Yvres.
Equipment
Adorned in heavy armour, stained black with highlights of silver upon ornate frills. They wear thin veils under their helmets to accentuate the feeling that they are barely mortal.
Weaponry
The Knights Grievance rely heavily on close combat weaponry and heavy armour. It has been rumoured that they or perhaps only some among them have magical ability.
Structure
The chaptermaster, said to have once been Vollert d'Yvres's sparring partner, orders the workings of the knights below him in battle, but Vollert decides their use. When not in battle they act as Vollert's personal guard, though due to their fearful visage they are rarely seen unless the Duke wishes to intimidate or threaten an opponent.
Tactics
They are supposed to appear to the enemy to be the image of death and fear, as such their main use is to break enemy resolve. Because of this they often end battles with fewer casualties on both sides. Some say this is by design, and that Vollert's personal loss influenced the design of the chapter to minimise unnecessary death, others claim this is simply a side effect of having such an effective fighting force.
History
In an attempt to cast of his grief in the lieu of a series of personal tragedies, Vollert d'Yvres created the order of knights in Lyssonne in an attempt to compartmentalise his pain.
