Kingdom of Lyssonne

A medium sized kingdom on the west coast of Irona. Formed of six Duchies and ruled by a monarch sitting on the throne in the capital of Ville Lyssonne.

Structure

A monarch rules over six duchies with varying levels of autonomy. The monarch since Lyssonne's foundation has been the Duke of Montris.

Demography and Population

Largely Human with a higher than usual number of High Elves and half-elves. Dwarves are also common to the east and half-Orcs to the north.

Military

The Lyssonne military is generally made up of small cores of well trained soldiers from each duchy, with a heavy emphasis on cavalry, backed up by the warriors of various faiths. When a Lyssonnite army goes to war, the majority is made up of untrained levied troops, whose lives matter little to the commanders who order them into battle.

Technological Level

The technology level in Ville Lyssonne is undoubtedly lower than average, much like their northern cousins, preferring to rely on their faith, honour and skill at arms to win the day.

Religion

There are many religions represented in Lyssone, many towns and cities will take a patron deity as the main religious influence, though many others will likely be present.

Trade & Transport

Trade occurs mainly within Lyssonne and the dwarves of the Arrowtooth Mountains. With only 2 main mountain passes to get to Sollen, the majority of the trade travels by boat out of the Bay of Lyssonne to the southwest.

Education

The average peasant has a very poor level of education, with no schooling available for the lower classes. Most of their knowledge will come from experience or through the local churches. For the wealthier classes, a series of military and religious academies are dotted around most of the large cities in Lyssonne. In Ville Lyssonne sits the Mages' College, possibly the best institution of learning in Lyssonne but given that those of the arcane arts are generally looked down upon in the kingdom the applicants are generally either those with open minded parents or those on their own.

The war comes to a halt as the commander lies, slowly dying in his tent, only his Knights Grievance and The Duchess of Rouveil Aeve Dumont are allowed inside and most believe him dead. The Norscans regroup and harry the lyssonites camp as reinforcements from Skjalfan and Eitrland press south to aid Loddergatt in the defense of Wolfsbane. Morale is low in the army. Leaderless as they spend the deepest parts of the winter in a place where the very land seems hostile to them.
