The Old Lands

The Old Lands is a huge continent found in the south of Zurith, and was the ancestral birthplace of the humans. Not much remains of knowledge about the Old Lands, but it is known that the humans there used to live in one huge country, that spanned almost the entirely of the continent. All records of the country, such as the name of it and the language/s it spoke are lost to time (although considering how prolific the language of Common came to be among the surviving humans from the country, it is believed that Common was at least one of the languages, if not the native language, that the country spoke), as the humans who left the Old Lands for the continent of Aefareth and the Eastern Continent refused to speak of it after building new kingdoms.
It is also unknown who used to be the leader/s of the country, and the current state of the Old Lands. What is known is that there was some unknown catastrophic disaster that occurred there, presumably turning the country into ruins and killing most of the human populace as the surviving humans were only small in number.
The humans who survived the catastrophe split into two groups to heighten their chances of finding somewhere new to rebuild their civilisations. One group subsequently landed on the continent of Aefaretb, and another on the Eastern Continent.
