The party arrives at Arythawn Keep. They find that House Deneith Mercenaries guard the keep as common laborers repair it. The party is turned away by House Deneith when they ask to camp in the laborer's camp. From the shadows of the Thirnwood, the party scouts the keep, learning that there is a complex below ground. They sneak into the keep and enter the underground complex from the keep well. Underground, they find a newly built complex guarded by Templars. Strange calls from unknown beasts echo throughout the halls. The party is soon discovered and combat breaks out with the arch-bishop ir'Oeskai and Masta, one of Som's missing sisters. During combat, an older elven scout rushes into the fray, helping to defeat the Templars.
The Hired Gunns arrive at Vathirond after solving the Murder on the Aristocrat Express. While there, Seladore and Aranni catch a glimpse of a House d'Phiarlan or Thuranni agent and urge haste to leave the city, having Baltia Bakker cover their tracks with false tickets to Starilaskur. Aranni shares her secret with her brother and the rest of the party.
The Hired Gunns leave for Vathirond aboard the Orien lightning rail line, The Aristocrat. Traveling with them is Egan Bakker. Egan is a foundling from House Cannith trying to make his way into their good graces. Bakker is an artificer on his way from Fairhaven to Sharn via the Aristocrat with his family and a suspicious collection of others. On the final day of travel, Bakker is shot and killed with his newly invented firearm. The Hired Gunns solve the mystery before arriving in Vathirond.
To learn more about her sisters' whereabouts, Som breaks into the Templar Keep in Sigilstar with Seladore's help. She learns about Project Purple, a secret program of experimentation on evil races being conducted in Arythawn Keep to the south. Jeffin joins the Order of the Heart Enflamed. The Hired Gunns are joined by a new member.
Aranni wakes up one morning to find a message blinking in her vision, "Trial period ends 05.12.997". Meanwhile, Selador is visited by an ancestor offering to mentor him, if he proves himself in a spiritual journey. Som learns from her contact, Vysriek Shaarat’khesh, that more information about her sisters' location can be found in the Templar Keep, but his agents can't get in. Som begins planning a break in. Jeffin is invited to join the Order of the Heart Enflamed. Iaji makes her first appearance.

Fate brought them all to Sigilstar in Thrane, but life after the Last War hasn't been easy and the party needs to earn a living. Gunn-Poudre Inquisitive Agency is growing and needs to expand. They are looking for employees with a unique set of skills - luckily the party members fit the bill. The fledgling group of inquisitives is sent to the sleepy town of Nathyrr a couple of days to the south of Sigilstar to investigate the murder of 2 nobles. Will they stop the killer before they strike again?
