Responsibility Report
General Summary
While the rest of the party chases down a lead, Marianne and Dimitri enjoy their short honeymoon. Marianne asks Dimitri if he can get a message to her mom and dad... and Callie. He agrees, but does not do it on screen. Whiskey and Dimitri have a short talk about Marianne, and Whiskey imparts some of his wisdom from his own love life. Then, on day three, Dimitri asks Marianne on a date, which causes her to immediately faint. On day four, Dimitri casts sending and reaches out to his father, who is quite dismissive of his son. All he says is that he is at Fáwë Ëar and not to bother him as he's busy. Finally, on the fifth day, a dejected party returns, not having found anything. Rickee approaches Whiskey to get advice on his soul contract, and is surprised when Whiskey gives him a verbal tongue lashing. Whiskey is disappointed with Rickee allowing everyone else to try and solve his problems, rather than taking responsibility and figuring it out for himself. Cowed, Rickee rejoins the Defiants at their table and after a few moments of silence, asks Rex to join him away from the others. Once they're alone, Rickee reveals that he believes Asmodeus to be his father, which shocks Rex. He asks to use Rex's journal to speak with the god directly. As he scrawls across the journal and his consciousness expands, he makes contact (critical success). After some negotiating, Rickee makes a pact with his father for non-aggression against the Defiants (for the moment). This whole conversation is watched by Rex, who unfortunately misses a bit of the context as he tries to keep up with the rapidly disappearing script on the journal. As the two rejoin the group, Rishaa notices that something is up with the two of them, but decides not to say anything. The next day, Rickee goes out and purchases a dogsled, which Marianne excitedly shifts to pull for them. The Defiants head out to hunt the last creature that Avoracious Pim offered payment for: a roper. As they are travelling, Rishaa pulls Rickee off the dogsled to speak privately with her and Dimitri. Rickee admits what Whiskey told him and that he was trying to fix things himself. Rishaa grimaces and tells Rickee that Whiskey's advice was bullshit. Faced with having made another bad choice, Rickee reluctantly admits that Asmodeus is his father, and that he made another pact to keep the Defiants safe. Rishaa sighs and shakes her head, but admits that it's not the worst thing that could have happened. At this moment, Rishaa suddenly sees Rah'Zai, her deceased wife, amongst the trees, and stops abruptly. She is wearing a purple cloak - one that Rishaa had given her on their first anniversary. She rushes after the vision, which none of the others are able to see. She pauses once she reaches the place where she saw Rah'Zai, but there are no footprints, no sign that she was here. Suspicious, Rishaa looks around one last time before cautiously rejoining the others. Her grip does not lessen on her sword for the rest of the journey.
